ACTIVIST CLUB
In room 242, after school today the Activist Club will be finalizing plans for our fieldtrip this Thursday. All these
who have filled out appropriate forms and donated money for the bus are welcome to joins us at the Helping
Paws. The animals still need your donations, please consider helping.
CINDERELLA’S CLOSET
Cinderella’s Closet is a prom boutique where high school girls can “shop” hundreds of gorgeous gowns for the
prom dress of their dreams. Dresses are current styles and in good condition. Visit www.ywcaelgin.org or
www.elginjsb.org for shopping rules. Must provide valid high school ID or proof of enrollment. See attached flyer.
COLLEGE VISITS
Come to the Counseling office to sign up for an upcoming Spring College Visits. Now is the time for Juniors to take
advantage of hearing about some great schools before you plan which schools you would like to visit over the
summer. Seniors, this is your last opportunity to take advantage of the schools visiting you before you make your
final plans on where you will be studying next year!

ELECTION JUDGES

Student Election Judges are needed for the April 7 elections in McHenry County. In order to participate, you must
be a junior/senior with at least a 3.0 GPA, a citizen of the U.S. and a resident of McHenry County. Students will be
paid $165.00 for completing mandatory training and working the Election Day. Packets can be found on the door
outside of the Social Studies Office which is across from room 209. Please see Ms. Kersten in Social Studies if you
have any questions.
GERMAN CLUB
Guten Morgen German Club! We will meet tomorrow in 260 after school to wrap up Foreign Language Week.

GIRLS BASKETBALL
There will be a voluntary 5 minute meeting for any girl not involved in a spring sport this Wednesday, March 18

MISS ILLINOIS TEEN USA PEGEANT
Any female interested in the Miss Illinois Teen USA pageant can apply now on this website
www.missillinoisusa.com. The pageant will be held at the North Shore Center for the Performing Arts in Skokie,
Illinois on September 4-7, 2015. Contestants must be between the ages of 14 and 18 to participate.
PROM **IMPORTANT INFORMATION**
Prom Procedure Information Packets are available in Student Services. Prom will be held at the Seville in

SCHOLARSHIPS
The Algonquin/LITH Chamber Foundation is offering 2 $1500 scholarships for high school seniors. You must live in
Algonquin or LITH, have a "C" average or better, demonstrate community/school involvement or employment,
essay, and 2 letters of recommendation. The application is available in the Counseling Office and the deadline is
March 16, 2015.
Barbara Hinkle Memorial Scholarship - Mr. Hinkle has started a scholarship to honor his wife, Barbara who was a
kindergarten teacher in the district from 1977 to 2003. This $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a senior girl who
is interested in being an elementary school teacher, has participated in at least 2 school activities, and has
performed community service. The application is available in the Counseling Office and is due by April 1, 2015.
Jacobs Athletic Boosters: Attention Senior Athletes! It’s that time of the year and the Jacobs Athletic Boosters is
offering $1000 scholarships to 2 female athletes and 2 male athletes. Stop by the Guidance Office for an
application. All you need to do is completely fill out the application, get one coach’s letter of recommendation and
write a personal essay of how playing sports has shaped your life. Applications are due in the Guidance Office by

Friday, April 10 .
Aspiring Fashion Professional Scholarship: This is a $1,000 scholarship that will be awarded to students that are
interested in pursuing a fashion degree at an accredited post-secondary school or college. Interested students can

on it. Deadline is June 1, 2015.
Aspiring Animation Professional: Scholarship Program offering high school seniors the opportunity to win a $1,000
scholarship. This will be awarded to students that are interested in pursuing an animation career path at an
accredited post-secondary school or college. Interested students can visit our website:

SCIENCE OLYMPIAD
Hats off to the Jacobs Golden Eagle Science Olympiad Team for placing 3rd in the Regional Competition and
advancing to the State Meet at the University of Illinois. The team brought home six first place medals. Team
members are Tia Robinson, Sofia Gjata, Maggie Corbett, Kelly Hartigan, Karen Wu, Eva Oszajec, Isabel Bernardi,
Parth Shah, Kailash Panchapakesan, Austin Nguyen, Kevin Derby, Nick Voss, Rachel Schillmoeller, and David

Attention students when arriving late please make sure you have your ID out. You will be asked for your
ID when entering the building. All students arriving late must use door 2. Please do not use Main
Entrance when arriving late. If you do not have an ID please stop by Student Services.
