Dear Community Member,
The School Council at Jefferson Middle School is a group of parents, teachers, administrators,
and other community members who meet regularly to discuss school matters and to generate
support for the students and staff in a variety of ways.
At this time, the JMS School Council is working on plans to host our second annual 5K “Glow
the Distance” run on April 10, 2015. The race will be an official 5K and will also include a one
mile family fun run. We are designing this event to be held in the evening, with lots of glow-inthe-dark effects, including a neon t-shirt. We are also planning to have refreshments at the finish
line, along with other fun activities so that there will be opportunities for runners as well as
spectators to enjoy. Last year’s event was very successful and we raised over $8,000 for
Jefferson Middle School.
In order to successfully carry out this event, we need to secure business sponsors. All proceeds
from this event will go directly to Jefferson Middle School and will be designated to supporting
student achievement. Attached is a description of the options for levels of support, along with
the advertising we plan to include for our business sponsors at this event.
We hope that you will join our efforts in supporting the students of Jefferson Middle School by
helping make our second annual 5K “Glow the Distance” run a success. Please complete the
attached paperwork and mail your sponsorship donation to Jefferson Middle School. We would
like to finalize sponsors by early March 2015. Thank you for your consideration.
