UniChar Picker Major Update Unveiled
Now available for Apple Watch, new Notification Center widget
UTAH - April 10, 2015 - Today Jordan Hipwell announced a major update to the UniChar Picker
app for iOS. Available now on the App Store℠, UniChar Picker has been redesigned to allow
users to more quickly find and utilize over 3,600 unicode characters and special symbols. All
characters are displayed in a single scrollable page, with a section index provided to
immediately jump to any section, allowing for a fluid and intuitive navigation experience.
In addition to the redesigned interface, UniChar is now available for Apple Watch™. Designed
specifically for the small Retina® display, the WatchKit app allows users to quickly glance at
their recently used characters, or browse all of the symbols and view information about each
character. At any time, users may use Handoff to jump right into UniChar on their iPhone® or
iPad® in order to work with the characters they are viewing.
UniChar 2.0 also brings a new widget, available right in the Today view of Notification Center.
This widget showcases the user’s recently used characters, and allows users to easily copy
characters to work with. It’s never been so easy to access special symbols, with just a single
swipe down from the top of the screen.
“I am always listening to the feedback from those use UniChar, and by far the most common
request was the ability to view your recently used characters,” said designer and developer
Jordan Hipwell. “With UniChar 2.0, I am excited to announce recents are now accessible and
kept in sync between the iOS app, Apple Watch app, Notification Center widget, and the
UniChar Keyboard. I am excited for what this new capability, and all-new interactions, will offer
to users of UniChar.”
Since UniChar was launched in June of 2014, updates have been steadily released that have
expanded the number of special characters available to use, now featuring over 7x more
characters than were originally available. For iOS 8, the UniChar Keyboard added the ability to
type special characters in any app. UniChar 2.0 is available today for free, exclusively on the App Store, and is available for all
Retina and Retina HD equipped devices. Visit jordanhipwell.com/UniChar for more information
about UniChar. The UniChar app is developed by Jordan Hipwell, an independent developer
from Utah.
