The Journey Museum and Learning Center 222 New York St Rapid City, SD 57701 Phone: (605) 394-6923 Email: [email protected] www.journeymuseum.org April 6, 2015 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Hike and Bike: The Black Hills Treasures RAPID CITY, SD - The Journey Museum and Learning Center is pleased to announce its next Learning Forum slated for Sunday, April 26, titled ‘Hike and Bike: The Black Hills Treasures’, presented by President of the Skyline Drive Preservation board, Roger Heacock, and board member of the Black Hills Mountain Bike Association, Christian Seeley. ‘Hike and Bike: The Black Hills Treasures’ will begin at 2 p.m. on April 26 in the Journey’s Wells Fargo Theater. Roger Heacock and Christian Seeley will speak on their respective specialties and their etiquettes for sharing trails with other users, centering the discussion around 3 ‘treasures’ of the Black Hills: Hansen-Larsen Memorial Park (HLMP), Skyline Drive, and Buzzard’s Roost. Heacock will be speaking on the hiking perspective and Seeley will speak on the biking perspective. Heacock was instrumental in fundraising for land preservation and trail development in the Skyline Drive Wilderness area. Seeley, who has 26 years of experience with mountain biking in the Black Hills and beyond, also has experience speaking to groups about trail etiquette and he has volunteered in the building and maintenance of trails. Whether you are an active outdoors enthusiast or a curious beginner, hikers and bikers of all experience levels are encouraged to attend ‘Hike and Bike: The Black Hills Treasures’ to enhance their awareness of these local gems and gain knowledge of how to maintain good relationships with fellow hikers, bikers, and runners. An hour-long hike to HLMP with follow the presentations for those interested. Sign-ups will be available after the forum for those interested in hiking Skyline Wilderness Park and Buzzard’s Roost in the near future. Admission for Learning Forums is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors, $9 for students (ages 6-17), & half-off for members (includes museum admission). Children 5 and under are free.
