We are very excited to be hosting this school again this year at the beautiful PaducahMcCracken County Convention Center in Paducah. This facility is strategically located and adequately designed to provide the perfect opportunity for our students to spend the weekend with us, learn new ideas and techniques from the instructors, and take what you have learned back to your department or agency to be shared with your fellow responders. There have been many hours of work involved in bringing you the best classes and instructors available. We strive to provide as high a caliber of instruction as is available anywhere. Of course, the Jackson Purchase School would not be possible without your attendance and we thank you for being a part of the 2015 school. The JPFA Annual Fire School is a great success because so many people come together to ensure its success. These are also required for firefighter certification by the Kentucky Fire Commission. P0001- 4Hours P0021- 4Hours Instructors: Area 1 State Fire Rescue Training F003 KY Flashover and Recognition & Survival Saturday 8 Hours Turnout Gear and SCBA Required This course is designed to provide the fire service with safe and secure method of flashover training. Firefighters are taught to recognize the signs of flashover, and provide techniques of possibly escaping impending flashover, with the goal of saving firefighters from injury or death. FC4000 Instructors: Area 3 State Fire Rescue Training F004 Building Construction National Fire Academy Course Saturday & Sunday 16 Hours This course will introduce the candidate to basic building construction as it relates to the firefighting profession. Fire officers improve their ability to ensure firefighter safety by recognizing common causes, indicators of failure and hazards related to building construction. V0000 Instructor: John Vessels Retired Assistant Chief of Owensboro Fire Department F005 Structural Strategies and Tactics Saturday & Sunday for Small Cities and Rural Fire Departments 12 Hours This course will cover the Strategies and Tactics necessary to successfully attack and extinguish various types of structure or building fires encountered by firefighters in suburban, small city, or rural fire departments. The course will include a brief review of the Incident Management System, the 13-point size-up considerations, and IMS Tactical Priorities. Over the two day period, the participant will learn how to implement ropes and safety systems to make retrieval from steep embankments safely. The focus of these units is a review of basic concepts and development of critical skills. This course will increase the company officer ability to making sound judgment calls at a fire emergency. Upon successful completion, the firefighter will know his role in the responding organization and be able to recognize the potential of an intentional set fire. FC1000 Instructor: Brent Francis Chief of Princeton Fire Department F012 Firefighter Rescue Sunday 8 Hours Turnout Gear and SCBA required This course will concentrate on safely removing a trapped or unconscious firefighter. The student will also review the OSHA requirement of the 2 in 2 out rule and how to set up a rapid intervention team in their own department. FC20000 Instructor: Brent Francis Chief of Princeton Fire Department FC013 Meth Labs – A Firefighter’s Nightmare Saturday or Sunday 8 Hours This class provides a survey of clandestine methamphetamine manufacturing, beginning with an overview of methamphetamine production and trafficking. The hazards of responding to methamphetamine labs, including environmental contamination, potential explosions and personal exposure are highlighted. Also covered are indicators of a clandestine laboratory, items and equipment utilized, and the ephedrine/ammonia, or “Nazi”, method of manufacturing methamphetamine. This class will explore how cooperation between law enforcement, EMS, fire and rescue agencies will improve the safety and effectiveness of your response to a meth lab incident.
