Behavior Tutor Autism Connections Program Royal Oak, MI Substitute Judson Center, a premier non-profit human services organization, has been providing compassionate and comprehensive services for children and families in need throughout Southeast Michigan since 1924. During that time we’ve grown beyond our initial mission as a children’s home to encompass adoption, foster care and family preservation services, autism treatment, residential living and vocational services for developmentally disabled adults and mental health counseling and services. The Autism Connections Program assists individuals with autism, their families, and their communities by offering a wide range of educational, therapeutic and support services. Therapies and skills training promote independence and maximize potential for children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorders. Autism Connections is Judson’s fastest growing Center of Excellence with the program anticipated to triple the number of consumers served in 2014 from current levels. Responsibilities The primary responsibility of a Behavior Tutor is to implement treatment plans (as created by the Behavior Services Supervisor) for children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorders. The Behavior Tutor also:        Appropriately manages behavior issues among consumers Provide direct line therapy to clients following all of the guidelines set forth in the treatment plan Collects data as per treatment plan protocol Summarizes data and makes recommendations based on data collected Works 1:1 or in small group situations to teach individual(s) new skills or to improve social functioning Manages client cases which includes: maintaining program book and materials, participating in treatment planning, and maintaining a good rapport with parents of clients through weekly parent contacts Develops monthly reports for parents of consumers Competencies       Ability to work with children and teenagers of various developmental levels Ability to be trained in and comply with applied behavioral analysis intervention methods Excellent organizational skills Attention to detail Excellent communication skills Ability to work collaboratively with parents and team members    Professional presentation of self and company Ability to work independently Cultural competence Qualifications    Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, or other related field preferred. Experience working with children required; experience working with children with special needs preferred. Valid Michigan Driver’s license and proof of insurance. Mileage is reimbursed. Work Environment  Hours will vary – May be scheduled up to 40 hours a week, but actual number of hours worked will vary based on consumer attendance.  Job requires willingness to work in Judson facilities and in families’ homes.  Majority of time is spent with consumers and can include toilet training, feeding and teaching other daily living skills.
