I also did one of the cleanses, which I was amazed at. I did the one on page 53 and was astounded at the amount of stones that came out. It was extremely helpful and beneficial. I feel great and I had been sick for at least 6 months. I have Celiac so it is imperative that I do all I can to keep my gallbladder. Thank you for making this information available. Thank you very much." Aleece Briggs 6 Are Your Symptoms Real? “I have been on and off the South Beach Diet and in all have lost a little over 40 pounds. I have been working out 45 days a week. Within the last week or so I have been feeling mild uncomfortable pains in my lower right side, with no other symptoms. It is very uncomfortable …” “I just wanted to know about a pain in my side. It's been hurting for two days now. It’s right in my pelvic area. Please help!” “HELP! Gallstone Attack! What can I do? I am having gallstone attacks after eating! What can I do to relieve the pain?” While these people experienced symptoms, most people with gallstones have no symptoms at all. One study found that over 80 percent of patients with gallstones had no symptoms at all. Review the symptoms shown below and consult a health professional if you are experiencing any of them. Gallstones form when liquid stored in the gallbladder hardens into pieces of stonelike material. The liquid, called bile, is used to help the body digest fats. Gallstones can be as small as a grain of sand or as large as a golf ball. The gallbladder can develop just one large stone, hundreds of tiny stones, or almost any combination. If a gallstone is obstructing the gall bladder, there will be severe pain in the upper right side of the abdomen. The pain will come and go in waves due to strong muscular contractions that occur. These muscular contractions occur because the body is trying to get rid of the obstruction caused by the stones. Another symptom of gallstones is mild pain located under the right ribs. This pain usually occurs after eating fatty foods because fat in the diet provokes a reflex contraction of the gall bladder. If there is complete obstruction of the gall bladder, infection of the gall bladder occurs. Symptoms of this include fever and jaundice (yellow skin). 7 The Symptoms Most doctors say you can live without your gallbladder. I agree. You CAN live without your gallbladder…but there’s a BIG price to pay. If you don’t have the gallbladder there to squirt the bile, which organ gets extra duty to break down fats? The liver of course! If the liver is already working extra hard breaking down fats, your chances are much higher of getting: ●
Jaundice ●
Skin rashes ●
Hormonal imbalance ●
Low blood pressure ●
Fatigue ●
Weakness ●
Weight loss ●
Poor appetite ●
Nausea ●
Fever These are just a few liver problems you may get if your gallbladder is removed. Due to the health risks of removing your gallbladder, don’t you want to save your gallbladder? Judy says…. Why risk these problems? Rather than removing your gallbladder, get rid of your gallstones naturally and save your gall bladder! Here’s what to do if you DO have pain, but you want to save your gall bladder. 8 First, check whether you have these symptoms: Symptoms of gallstones are often called a gallstone “attack” because they occur suddenly, especially right after a meal. A typical attack can cause: ●
Steady pain in the upper abdomen or right side that increases rapidly and lasts from 30 minutes to several hours. Pain is sharp, cramping, or dull. ●
Pain in the back between the shoulder blades ●
Pain under the right shoulder ●
Nausea or vomiting Gallstone attacks often follow fatty meals, such as a meal with meat and potatoes, deep fried foods, and greasy foods. They may occur during the night. Other Gallstone Symptoms ●
●
●
●
●
Abdominal bloating Recurring intolerance of fatty foods Belching Gas Indigestion, heartburn IMPORTANT NOTE If you have the above symptoms PLUS any of following symptoms, you should see a doctor right away: ●
Sweating ●
Chills ●
Lowgrade fever ●
Yellowish color of the skin or whites of the eyes ●
Claycolored stools 9 8 Tips to Know If You Are Likely to Get Gallstones 1.
Women Women are much more inclined to develop gallstones than men. In fact, women between the ages of 30 and 39 have three times greater risk of gallstones than men in the same age group. 2.
People over age sixty Age is also a major risk factor for both men and women. As you age, your chance of developing gallstones increase substantially, particularly after you hit age sixty. 3.
Native Americans Most Native Americans, especially Pima Indians, have one of the highest incidences of gallstones. This is particularly true in women. 4.
Mexican Americans Those who eat their native foods rich in cheese and meats tend to form gall stones more readily. 5.
Overweight men and women Obesity (weight greater than 120 percent of ideal body weight) is certainly a major risk factor as well. Even being moderately overweight increases your chance for forming gallstones. 6.
Lack of physical activity A recently published study of more than 60,000 women showed that the risk of having a gallbladder attack is directly related to the amount of physical activity done. Women who sat all day at their desk were at a 2.3 times greater risk for needing gallbladder surgery compared to women who worked out daily. Similar findings have also been observed with men. 7.
People who fast or lose a lot of weight quickly Yoyo diets are nono diets! When weight is lost and gained too rapidly, this puts a tremendous stress on your liver and gallbladder, leading to excessive stones being formed. 10 8.
Pregnant women, women on hormone therapy, and women who use birth

control pills Sex hormones, especially estrogen, appear to be largely responsible for this, having been shown to promote gallstone formation. Along these lines, women who are on estrogen replacement therapy or oral contraceptives also seem to be at a higher risk for developing gallstones. Pregnancy, or a history of childbirth, is also a risk factor for forming gallstones. One study reported that only 1.3 percent of women who have never given birth had gallstones, compared to a 12.2percent prevalence of gallstones among women with a history of childbirth. Pregnant women, after they give birth, have been found to have less gallbladder problems within one to two months after delivery. 11 Where In The World Is Your Gallbladder Anyway? Your gallbladder is so small you wouldn’t think it could cause so much trouble! But this little tiny three inch sac is actually a muscular storage sac that can hold about one ounce of your bile. This is the same greenishyellow bile fluid made by your liver and sometimes you “burp up” leaving you with a sour taste in your mouth. Your gallbladder is simply a storage site for the bile that your liver makes. It’s lined with a special mucus lining, which can absorb salts (minerals). It’s attached to, and located under, the liver. When bile is needed, the gallbladder contracts, forcing the bile into the common bile duct, which carries it to the small intestine to aid in digestion. 12 Starting Your Gallbladder Diet Eating high fiber foods is a HUGE factor in preventing gallstones! Fiber reduces the absorption of something called deoxycholic acid. This simply means that the fiber keeps sweeping out the toxins that don’t belong in you! The best high fiber foods for preventing gallstones are oat bran, wheat bran, psyllium husks, and pectin. Although eating apples and oatmeal is good, they don’t contain as much fiber as the bran, psyllium husks, and pectin. Simply add a spoonful onto your cereal as part of your gallbladder diet. The proof of eating a high fiber diet has been shown in studies with vegetarians. The amount of gallstones they get is one tenth of what the average meat eating American gets. Studies have also shown that drinking coffee is also beneficial for preventing gallstones, but... Before you get excited about your next coffee latte, you have to know the downside of drinking coffee. Drinking coffee can exhaust your adrenals (making you feel more hyper) or cause an acid stomach. Yes, you can avoid gallstones by drinking some coffee, but you’ll have other more serious problems. Another thing to avoid at all costs is FAT! You want to avoid fat on your body and in the foods you eat! The more fat you have on your body, the higher the chances that gallstones will form. This is because the production of bile salt is reduced and becomes insufficient to break down fat and cholesterol, leading to an excess of fat and cholesterol. The excess fat and cholesterol decreases the chances of emptying the gallbladder and this can lead to stones forming. When you eat a diet high in fats, you increase the risk of stones forming. Here are examples of high fat foods you can substitute with low fat foods: ▪
▪
▪
▪
▪
Ice cream – sherbet or sorbet or low fat frozen yogurt Butter – coconut oil, olive oil Milk – rice milk, almond milk, hemp milk Yogurt – low fat or nonfat yogurt Fried chicken – baked chicken 13 Watch the Labels! You should only eat foods from a bag or can if they have 5 grams of fat or less in a serving size of 100 grams. You should also drink a TON of water! Water flushes out toxins and supports your liver so it won’t start forming any stones! Drink enough water so your urine is light yellow (not clear, since that can mean you’re drinking too much water). Foods You Can Eat: ●

I am in SO MUCH PAIN! I’ve been in pain like this for three days. Is there ANYTHING I can do without going to the hospital?” True story… I got the call on a cold winter day in Wisconsin from a desperate mother. She had three small children, and her husband was out on his truck driving route. The nearest neighbor was at least five miles away. The roads were piled with snow. I hadn’t been working very long with Sherry on her health program, but she impressed me as the type of woman who wanted to make serious lifestyle changes. She asked a lot of questions and took notes on everything I said. Her biggest challenge was driving the 30 miles to the nearest grocery store to get all the recommendations I told her. But she was willing to make it work. When she called me, I knew she was in serious trouble. Sherry had a very high pain tolerance. She never took any medications when she gave birth to her children, even though her labor was long and difficult. “What kind of fruit do you have in your house?” I asked her. “Only apples”, she replied. Perfect! I knew with apples alone we could get her out of pain. I had her take a long hot bath to get her relaxed. She then juiced enough apples to make a gallon of juice. I told her to drink nothing but apple juice for three days. Sherry was desperate. She couldn’t go to the hospital and leave her children alone. Because she felt this was her last hope, she did exactly as I instructed. On the third day she called with a totally different tone in her voice. She sounded so happy! “I took the hot bath, and that got me feeling better. But I still had sharp pain on my right side. I made the apple juice just like you told me and WOW! What a difference. I immediately felt less pain. I also drank cranberry juice, which seemed to help too. I didn’t eat anything, just like you told me. I feel so much BETTER! Thank you, thank you, thank you!” 15 Judy Says…. Juicing is a powerful tool to use when you are in deep pain from a gallbladder attack. Fruit juices are the cleansers of the body. They clean out the old, putrid, rotting garbage that has piled up from years of abuse. The whole purpose of juicing is to enable the body to assimilate all of the vital elements contained in the fruits and vegetables as quickly as possible without burdening your digestive organs with the work of breaking down the fiber. When you are in the middle of a gallstone attack, your body does not want to take the time to digest fiber. It wants the vital nutrients now! In less than 15 minutes, your body will get the juice directly into your system. If it had to break down the fiber, it would take hours to digest Tips for Drinking Fresh Fruit Juices Tip #1 Whenever you juice fresh fruit juices, make sure the fruit is ripe. Tip #2 Make sure you don’t mix fruit juices with other foods, especially starchy foods. Also, it is best to drink fresh fruit juices on an empty stomach when you first wake up. Tip #3 If the fruit juice is too sweet, you can get a little ‘sugar buzz.’ This occurs when the natural sugar in the fruit overloads your system causing headaches, irritability, or stomach bloating. To eliminate the sugar buzz, simply drink 23 large glasses of water immediately and the symptoms will disappear. When you first start drinking fresh fruit juice, it’s best to dilute the fruit juice with an equal amount of water so you are drinking a mixture of half juice and half water. Tip #4 Don’t mix fresh fruits with vegetables. Due to their different pH balances, they will be difficult on your digestive system and may cause gas, belching, and bloating. It is best to use only apples, diluted with water, for your gallstone pain. Once your pain is gone, you can start experimenting with other fruits. 16 How Much Juice is Enough? As a general rule, I recommend about a pint of juice daily for maintenance or prevention. ●
●
Drink 8 ounces of fresh apple juice in the morning. Drink 8 ounces of fresh vegetable juice in the midafternoon Remember to dilute the juices if you experience any bloating, gas, or headache. Timesaving Tip: To save time, make all your juice first thing in the morning. This saves you the hassle of cleaning up the juicer twice. Drink the fruit juice immediately, and store the vegetable juice in a tightly sealed glass jar in the refrigerator. 17 Three Juices You Need to Drink Every Day to Dissolve Gallstones #1: Apple Juice for Relieving Gallstone Pain Remember my story about Sherry? Drinking only apple juice helped her eliminate the pain immediately. Apple juice is effective in eliminating gallstones because of the high malic acid content of apples. Malic acid acts as a type of natural solvent to weaken the sticky adhesions that holds together the solid globules, so that when you perform a gallbladder flush (discussed later in this book) the stones will be expelled from the gallbladder. Apple juice also supports your digestive system because of the high amount of pectin it contains. Pectin has the ability to absorb excess water in the intestines and make a soft bulk that acts like a mild, nonirritating stimulant. This stimulant helps your bowels move naturally, removing the gallstones that have been expelled from the gallbladder. Apple juice also contains natural iron, calcium (24 mg), and vitamin A (360 I.U.), vitamin B, and vitamin C (18 mg). How to Use Apple Juice Before a Gallbladder Flush ●
Make about one gallon of fresh apple juice, preferably organic. ●
Drink 1 glass of apple juice every 2 hours for 23 days before your flush ●
Eat only fresh fruit salads and vegetables (raw salads or lightly steamed). ●
Do not eat breads, potatoes, pasta, or meats during this time. How to Use Apple Juice When You Are Having an Attack! ●
Juice enough apples to make a gallon of juice. ●
Drink 8 ounces every hour on the hour. ●
Do not dilute this juice! (You need the strength of the apple juice to soften your stones.) 18 #2: Beet Juice for Relieving Gallstone Pain Vegetable juices are the Builders and Regenerators of the body. After you flush your gallstones down the toilet, you want to concentrate on never having them come back! The best way to do this is to use vegetable juice to rebuild your body. Vegetable juices contain amino acids, minerals, natural salts, enzymes, and vitamins—all of which is needed by your body. There is no vitamin or mineral supplement that comes close to providing the nutrients that fresh vegetable juices provide. Before you turn your nose up at the thought of drinking vegetable juices, think about this: If this one tool could be used to keep you from ever having to end up in the emergency room waiting for gallbladder surgery, wouldn’t you do it? Of course you would. You would find a way to make it. You would find a way to get the taste to be easy to swallow. It’s all a matter of what you want. Do you want to lay helpless in the hospital bed? Or do you want to be in control of your health? Beet Juice for Prevention This is one of the most valuable juices for helping to build up the red corpuscles of the blood and tone up the blood generally. Women have especially benefited by drinking at least one pint of a combination of carrot and beet juice daily. The proportion is: ●
3 ounces of beet juice, using roots and green tops ●
5 ounces of carrot juice ●
Dilute with 8 ounces of water How to Use Beet Juice When You’re Having A Gallstone Attack Beet juice is recommended when you’ve had past discomfort in the upper right area of your abdomen, or when you have sharp pains after eating a “fatty meal.” (Check the chapter entitled: “Are Your Symptoms Real?”) ●
Drink 3 ounces of fresh beet juice with 5 ounces of water at least once each day. ●
During a gallstone attack, drink beet juice without the carrot juice. Drink approximately 6 ounces every couple of hours. If you feel nauseous, decrease the amount of juice or dilute it. 19 #3: Lemon Juice for Relieving Gallstone Pain Lemon juice is a powerful fruit that can clean your body of impurities. It has a stimulating effect on your liver and liquefies the bile. Lemon juice is rich in potassium (up to 48%) which nourishes your brain cells, and contains natural calcium (29%), magnesium (4.4%), and high levels of vitamin C. Using lemon juice when you first wake up in the morning in a glass of hot water gets the liver flushing out poisons immediately. Simply squeeze a fresh, ripe lemon into 8 ounces of hot water and drink. Tip #1 If you experience heart burn after drinking the lemon juice and water, dilute the lemon juice by squeezing only 1 teaspoon into 8 ounces of hot water. Tip #2 Don’t leave a fresh lemon out once you’ve cut it. It loses its strength. Instead, use the whole lemon and drink the juice the same day. How to Pick a Ripe Lemon To use food as your medicine, you must get the best. Fruits and vegetables that are ripe are richer in vitamins and minerals than produce that is not as ripe. The best lemons: ●
Have a skin that has an oily, fine texture ●
Have a darker, deeper yellow color ●
Are heavy for their size ●
Are firm, but not rock hard ●
Do not have signs of bruising How to Use Lemon Juice for Your Gallstone Attack At the FIRST sign of discomfort (in the upper right side of your abdomen, underneath the ribs): ●
Get the ripest, freshest lemon you can find ●
Squeeze the whole lemon into 8 ounces of hot water ●
Drink this immediately ●
Repeat this every hour Many times, this simple remedy can bring you fast relief. 20 How to Do a 3 Day Gallbladder Detox To get you started, I'll walk you through how to do a gallbladder detox. There are three important steps to the detox: ●
●
●
PreCleanse Cleanse Post Cleanse The PreCleanse Getting yourself ready mentally is just as important as doing the actual program. I have found by working on thousands of people during my clinic days, that taking a day or two to get all your supplies, foods, and planning together makes a huge difference! The best way to get ready is to plan to get everything in order about a week before you get started. Buy or order your supplies so you have everything ready. Make sure you can find all the foods you need to eat. Buy a juicer! At least 34 days before starting the gallbladder detox,
drink at least 1 quart of apple juice daily and eat three very light meals during these days, as suggested below. Breakfast
: Eat fresh fruit salad or eggs and apple juice. MidMorning:
Drink 8 ounces of apple juice. Lunch:
Eat a fresh green salad (dark leafy greens, tomatoes, broccoli, etc.) with a light olive oil and vinegar dressing, or have a vegetable sandwich. MidAfternoon:
Have two 8 ounce glasses of apple juice Dinner: Eat steamed veggies (such as carrots, sweet potatoes, asparagus, beets, and cauliflower). Or, you may eat fish (only cod, haddock, halibut, sole, tilapia, or flounder), chicken, or turkey with steamed veggies. Evening:
Drink 8 ounces of apple juice Before Bed:
Juice 1 grapefruit (peeled), 1 whole organic lemon, and 1 clove garlic. Add this to a blender with 1 tablespoon of olive oil (organic, extra virgin, and cold pressed) and blend it all together. Drink quickly (you can use a straw). Then lay on your right side for at least one hour and hopefully you will fall asleep without getting up to go to the bathroom. (See the recipe and additional instructions 21 The next morning you should have a bowel movement, so watch for stones. If there are no stones expelled, repeat this cocktail every night but INCREASE the olive oil by one (1) tablespoon. Thus, on the first night you use 1 tablespoon of olive oil. If you don’t expel stones the next day, then you’ll add
2 tablespoons of olive oil on the second night. If there are still no stones expelled the next day, you’ll add 3 tablespoons of olive oil on the third night. Important Notes About the PreCleanse 1.
The day BEFORE you start the cleanse, I recommend you eat very light foods. Eat lots of fruits and veggies, and only eat those foods shown on the
Foods You Can Eat
list. 2.
Avoid ALL meats. They are too difficult to digest and your body needs a rest! 3.
You will also want to make sure your bowels are moving well. I recommend getting a colonic the first two days of the cleanse. The best way to find a professional colon hydrotherapist in your area is here: http://iact.org 4.
To make your colonic session even more effective, you can take a colon cleansing herb called Psyllium (pronounced: sil ee yum). This herb has a scrubbing type action in your colon. When you put it in water, it swells to a jellylike consistency. The herb then goes down your digestive tract and when it hits your colon it scrubs out old fecal matter that has become impacted over the years. You can find psyllium husks at a health food store. NOTE: Psyllium has a gentle action, but make sure to drink plenty of water for maximum effectiveness. Instructions for Taking Psyllium
: All you need is 1 teaspoon of psyllium husks in 8 ounces of warm water, followed by another glass of warm water. Repeat this twice a day. I would recommend doing this the day before your cleanse starts. 22 The Cleanse Day 1 To start your Gallbladder Diet Detox, you will wake up and immediately squeeze ½ of a fresh lemon into 16 ounces (2 glasses) of warm water and drink this. Then go to the colon hydrotherapist and have a colonic to clean out your colon. Eat light foods throughout the day. Eat veggie soups, salads, steamed veggies or fruit smoothies are all good. Eat the foods listed in the “Foods You Can Eat” list (in the section,
Starting Your Gallbladder Diet
)
. Evening of Day 1 Do a Liver Flush There are many Liver Flushes you can do. I wrote a book that included the best ones out there. The book is titled: Shatter Your Gallstones: How to Eliminate Gallstones WITHOUT Painful Surgery You can find this book at:
http://www.DetoxYourGallbladder.com Here's a simple flush to help get you started: Judy’s Easy Liver/Gallbladder Flush Cocktail Cocktail Ingredients ●
●
●
●
1 whole lemon, organic, fully ripened 1 tablespoon olive oil, organic, extra virgin, cold pressed 1 clove garlic 1 whole grapefruit, peeled Note: Instead of this cocktail, you may drink 1 gallon of fresh, unfiltered, organic apple juice throughout the day. Or, you may juice 810 large apples, organic if possible (use any hard crisp apple – but do NOT use Delicious apples – these are sprayed with lots of chemicals) 23 Cocktail Instructions: * The trick here is to use a blender, a juicer, and a straw. ●
Juice the whole lemon, clove of garlic, peeled grapefruit. ●
Pour the mixture into the blender with 1 tablespoon of olive oil and blend it together. ●
Pour the drink into a cup and if it’s not quite 10 ounces, add purified water. ●
Drink immediately. You may find it easier to drink if using a straw. ●
Go to bed and lay on your right side. ●
The next morning... Day 2 This will be the same as Day 1. Wake up and immediately drink 2 glasses (16 ounces) of warm water to which you have added 1/2 of a freshly squeezed lemon. Then go to your colon hydrotherapist and get a colonic. Eat fresh fruit in the morning. Select fruits from the
“Foods You Can Eat” list
. Continue drinking lots of Natural Apple Juice. Evening of Day 2 Take a nice relaxing Epsom Salt/Sea Salt/Baking Soda Bath. Mix 2 cups of each and put in hot water. Soak for 30 minutes. Sip on a glass of peppermint tea while in the bath. Rinse off with a cool shower when you're done. This bath not only relaxes but also gets your body to pull out extra toxins through your skin as you sweat. The salt has minerals and the baking soda can make your body a more alkaline pH. A great cleanser! After you're done with your bath, have another Liver Flush Cocktail. Lay on your right side and have a good night sleep! 24 Day 3 Wake up and drink 2 big glasses of warm water with 1/2 fresh lemon squeezed into it. Continue eating fresh fruit for breakfast. You can also add a smoothie, but make it with Almond or Rice Milk instead of cow’s milk. It’s healthier and has less fat. Continue drinking Natural Apple Juice throughout the day. No colon hydrotherapy session is needed today unless you feel like it’s necessary. Lunch & Dinner are the same. Eat lots of veggies. Today, you can add back fish, chicken, or turkey into your meals. There is no Liver Flush Drink tonight. The Post Cleanse Today you can eat normally. You might have had gallstones come out, maybe not. You need to go searching with your flashlight if you want to find them! Most people don't want to go looking, that's fine. So how do you know if your gallstones are gone? By your symptoms! No pain, means no inflammation. Here's what you need to know after doing thousands of these cleanses on folks who came into my clinic, I've found that most of them didn't see many gallstones come out the first time around. You have to do at least 34 before you get results. But remember, it took a long time to get the problem, and it takes a while to get rid of the problem. In the meantime, make sure you avoid fatty foods and stick with the
Foods You Can Eat list (in the section: “Starting Your Gallbladder Diet).
I always have folks make a copy and post it on the fridge for easy reference. By following the
Foods You Can Eat
list
and making good choices, you can be assured that your gallbladder pain will start feeling better. Just follow it as closely as possible along with doing the Liver Flushes at least once a month. Soon you'll be out of pain, your gallstones will soften and flush out, PLUS you'll even lose some weight. A winwin all the way around! 25 Reliable Resources DetoxYourGallbladder.com If you want to read MORE about the Liver/Gallbladder Flushes I used in my clinic for eliminating gallstones, then you’ll want to read: Shatter Your Gallstones: How to Eliminate Gallstones WITHOUT Painful Surgery ●
