House Authorizes $200 Million in Chapter 90 Funds for Local Infrastructure Projects and
$130 Million for the Winter Recovery Assistance Program (WRAP)
Early Action Highlights House’s Commitment to Investing in Municipalities
(BOSTON) – Representative Kate Hogan joined her colleagues in the House of Representatives today to
authorize $200 million for local road and bridge repairs, passing legislation before April 1st so that
municipalities can take full advantage of the construction season.
Chapter 90 funds may be used for roadway projects, such as resurfacing, drainage, sidewalks, traffic
control and lighting, or road building machinery, equipment and tools.
“It was important that the House was able to move quickly on Chapter 90 and WRAP funds” said Rep
Hogan. “This vote allocates much needed monies to our towns as soon as possible so that construction,
repairs, and maintenance can commence along with the spring season. These Chapter 90 funds give our
municipalities the ability to bring crucial resources to bear on our communities’ aging infrastructure.”
The House has been a longstanding champion of Chapter 90 and other local aid programs. This legislation
follows the release of $100 million in Chapter 90 funds by Governor Baker which had been previously
allocated by the Legislature but not yet approved.
The Chapter 90 formula takes miles of road, population and employment statistics into consideration.
Under this allocation level Bolton would receive $288,007 in Chapter 90 funding and $43,329 for WRAP
funding. Hudson would receive $594,558 in Chapter 90 funding and $89,244 in WRAP funding. Maynard
would receive $259,727 in Chapter 90 funding and $37,519 in WRAP funding. Stow would receive
$284,835 in Chapter 90 funding and $42,539 in WRAP funding.
The bill now moves to the Senate for its consideration.
