Our 12A team who had performed so well
to make the grand final played a great
game and were unfortunate to not get a
win. However the way the team played
was great to see and they did Keilor
proud. (Read their final report, next page).
The U12 to U16 presentation night was
held Saturday and details of awards can
be found on the website. All the junior
statistics are now open for viewing.
Congratulations to Mitchell Hearne for
being awarded the Player of the Season
in the U16 grade and winning the Trent
Murphy Memorial Shield.
the team app or checking the website.
Soon we will be advertising for our winter
coaching sessions as well as holding our
AGM . Come along to the AGM to hear
what the club is trying to do and have
your say on what is important to you.
Last week you should have received an
email requesting you take the time to do
a short survey. I would greatly appreciate
your reply as the survey provides
important feedback that is used to help
improve the club.
Finally, thank you to all the players and
well done on the season just completed. I
hope to see you all again next season.
Best wishes to everyone Martin
I’d like to once again thank all the
players, families and volunteers
involved with the Junior program at
the Keilor Cricket Club. Without all
your support, however big or small,
we would struggle to have 130 young
cricketers training or playing cricket
each week.
Special mention to Tracey
Hutchinson for producing the
newsletter every week. I know
many of the readers rely on the
newsletter for updates and details
on games so it is a critical part of
our communication and Tracey
has done a fantastic job to chase
the information and produce the
newsletter week in week out.

GRAND FINAL

Grand Final – 21 March 2015
Report/Report: Jeff Reeves
What a Grand Final, our team lost by only
one run, but won plenty of hearts with a
fantastic performance. I cannot be more
proud of the boys.
We were playing against an undefeated
team who had two of the best Under 12
players that I have ever seen. To come
that close was unreal, with the hardest
part being we should have won the game,
needing only five runs from the last over
with four wickets in hand. Batting last in
finals is always difficult and to their credit,
Marcus who bowled the last over was
fantastic.
All year there were three key messages
that the team followed 1. Bowl full at off
stump, 2. Be aggressive when batting and
3. Field well. I thought we executed 1 and
3 perfectly, we could have been a bit more
aggressive with the bat, particularly in the
last few overs but their bowling was very
good which made it difficult.
The tale of the game, was we lost the toss
and they elected to bat. Our bowling and
fielding was magnificent, all of the boys
were switched on and bowled and fielded
as well as they have all year. Keeping
Kensington to their lowest score all year
was a great effort. I thought everyone
bowled well and lifted their performance
when required.
We started slowly with the bat, but the plan
was to keep wickets in hand for the later
overs. At the 20 over mark we were in a
good position, but there good bowlers came
back on and restricted us. In the end we
only need five runs off the last over, but lost
3 wickets for 3 runs. That’s cricket.
It was a great grand final and I would
like to thank all of the people that turned
up to watch and support the team. Keilor
supporters outnumbered Kensington
significantly which shows what a great
supportive and family club that we have.
Participation was a big factor for our team
this year, the key being to make sure all
of the players improved and will continue
to play cricket in the future. I can sit back
and proudly say that everyone improved
significantly during the year and will be
extremely good cricketers for Keilor and
perhaps even for district cricket teams and
beyond.
I would like to thank many people for
helping this year, Mick and Louie for
scoring, Andrew and Albert for helping at
different times and Nigel for assisting with
motivation in the finals. A special thank you
to our Team Manager BJ who did a great
job.
Also a big thank you to all of the parents
who were there every week living each ball
bowled or batted.
Thanks for a great year, it’s a shame we
didn’t bring home a premiership, but our
boys now have good experience at playing
in finals and there is always next year.
Special Mentions: Aaryan 21, Akhmal 14,
Noah 13no, Nicholas 12, Jarrod 10, Akhmal
2/12, Noah 1/12, Mason 1/9.
