Kidd Courier S.H.A.R.P = Safe, Helpful, Accountable, Respectful, Positive Upcoming Events April 17th, 2015 Dear Parents and Guardians, It is hard to believe that we are into our final term of the 2014/2015 school year! It has been a terrific year so far, and we are anticipating that our next few weeks will continue in the same manner. The staff continues to concentrate strongly on the final terms of academics and several classes are engaged in seasonal activities such as track and field. As our Grade 7 students begin their orientation sessions at McNair Secondary, our new Kindergarten students and their parents prepare for transition to the beginning of their school days! The term has begun in a busy and positive way and will continue until the end of the school year! Please stay posted for events and activities to come and enjoy the beautiful spring weather! Hip Hop Program: April 24 – 30th We are very excited to participate in a hip hop dance program next week under the guidance of Sue Vibe! Parents and guardians are invited to a whole school presentation the afternoon of April 30th at 1 pm. This will be a wonderful community event where we can enjoy seeing what the students have learned during their dance week! We look forward to seeing all of you there! WELCOME TO KINDERGARTEN EVENT Friday, May 8th, 11:00 am -12:00 pm Children who have registered for the 2015-2016 school year will visit Thomas Kidd and learn all about Kindergarten for next year. With the warm spring weather arriving, this is a good opportunity to continue to encourage children to walk to school both for the exercise and fresh air, as well as reducing pollution and protecting our environment! We hope it will be a chance to learn more about Kindergarten at Thomas Kidd and it will provide an opportunity for your child to meet some of your child’s possible classmates. Ms. H. Registrations for September 2015 Registration for the next school year is ongoing. Students entering Kindergarten to Grade 7 can register at Central Registration at the School Board office. To complete the registration you will need to take the following original documents: • proof of residency - such as an original mortgage agreement, current property tax notice or assessment or lease/rental agreement • your child’s Canadian birth certificate, landed immigration documents with certificate of birth, or Canadian citizenship card, and parents’ landed immigration documents or proof of Canadian citizenship • your child’s immunization health record Requests For Next Year June is fast approaching and once again, the professional staff at Thomas Kidd Elementary School are gathering and sharing information in preparation for student placement in September. As professionals, the staff devotes much time, care and effort in determining September placement for each child. Sometimes, parents are able to provide the school with new information about their child. This input should not include a request for placement with a specific teacher but rather some important personal or educational data that will assist us with our decision. Should you wish to provide the school with this information, please send a letter to Ms. Wong by Friday, May 29, 2015.
