Frequently Asked Questions about Sharing For A Cause 2015 1. What is SFAC? Sharing For A Cause initiative is a Hong Kong donation drive dedicated to alleviate invisible poverty. It is entirely run by youths who dedicate afterschool time to changing lives for the better. To date we have collected 2175 sports equipments, 7301 pieces of household appliances and toys, 36,000 stationery sets, and 50,000 books. This year our theme is “For Kids and For Home” and we hope to gather even more donations with greater participation around Hong Kong. From May 1st until May 29th, we will be collecting household appliances and educational toys. All donations will be collected by our second-time logistics sponsor, Kerry Logistics, and redistributed by our supporting organization, Crossroads, to those most in need. 2. What items do we collect? The items are split into two main categories: For the Kids and For the Home: IMPORTANT: No items larger than 50x50x50 cm A. For the Kids (max 50x50 cm): Educational Toys (examples included but not limited to) For Math Learning For Science Learning Wooden Educational Toys Electronic Educational Toys For Language Learning IMPORTANT: All items must be clean and in good condition. They should be sealed, all items included. B. For the Home (max 50x50 cm): Electrical Appliances (examples included but not limited to) Rice cookers Toasters Water boilers Electric kettles Hot Plates Food Steamers Handheld Electronics Laptops Adapters IMPORTANT: Hong Kong plug preferred. All items must be clean and in good working condition. All fragile items (e.g. mobile phones, laptops, etc.) must be bubble wrapped. Kitchenware (examples included but not limited to) Eating Utensils Spoons Chopsticks Plates Cups Bowls Cooking utensils Spatulas Sieves Whisks Pots Pans Woks IMPORTANT: All items for kitchenware must be metal or plastic. All loose items must be placed in sealed bags. C. Miscellaneous Items Tupperware Lunch Boxes Coolers 3. What items are we NOT accepting? A. For the Kids: Playdoh Books Models/small figures Heaters/fans Glass/ceramics B. For the Home: Lamps Sharp Objects (knives, forks, can openers, etc.) Baking equipment Any Food Items 4. How do we protect items from damaging? Bubble wrap and tape will be provided. 5. How do we sort the educational toys and household items collected? Please complete: 1) Tally on side of each collection box. 2) Tally sheet provided in the Starter Kit. 6. What we have to do as participating collectors? Participating schools and corporates will have to help by doing the following: 1) Promote Sharing for a Cause 2015 (promotional material provided in the Starter Kit). 2) Set up collection boxes for collection of educational toys and household appliances. 3) Fill in and send to us the Tally Sheet included in the Starter Kit by June 1, 2015. 4) Pack items into boxes provided and seal boxes for collection by Kerry Logistics. 5) Contact Kerry Logistics at least 2 weeks in advance to arrange for collection at [email protected] or +852 2211 9320. 7. How long does the collection period last? The collection period is May 1st-29th. However, your organisation can choose to collect for any period between the start and end collection dates. Please indicate this on the sign-up form. 8. What should we do after we have collected all items? After you have collected all items, please complete the Tally Sheet included in the Starter Kit and take photos to document your collection. We ask that you send your photos and tally via email to [email protected] by June 1, 2015. Your photos will be a part of our Celebration video that Kids4Kids will create at end of our campaign! TIPS: Wear our T-shirts in your photos! Two complimentary Kids4Kids T-shirts will be sent to you via post. To order more T-shirts ($50 per T-shirt), please email [email protected] with size and quantity. 9. Where are your items going to end up? We are looking for educational toys and household items to help less privileged kids and families across Hong Kong, which will be distributed by Crossroads. 10. How do we promote ‘Sharing for a Cause’ 2015 in my school/organization? You can: 1) Let your peers know about SFAC and get them involved. 2) Take photos of collected items. Share on Social Media (JPEG file of SFAC poster in Starter Kit). 3) Display posters sent to you via post. 11. Where can we get the boxes used for collection? In the signup form, you were asked to specify the estimated no. of boxes you require and when you will need them by. Our logistics sponsor, Kerry Logistics, will drop off boxes between April 20 - 29. 12. When should we contact Kerry Logistics to pick up the boxes? You must contact Kerry Logistics 2 weeks in advance to the date that you picked on the sign up form for boxes pick up. 13. How can we contact Kerry Logistics?
