GeorgiaMae Theresa Krosschell GeorgiaMae was born August 25, 1925, in Pipestone County, MN, to George and Emma (Rohrer) Knochenmuss. She attended school in Minnehaha County, SD, and graduated from High School in Flandreau, SD. She then went to the College of Automation in Des Moines, IA, and attended Classes at BHSC. GeorgiaMae married Harold Krosschell on March 7, 1944, in Flandreau, SD. The couple farmed at Flandreau from 1944 to 1947 and at Clear Lake, SD, from 1947 until 1956. She worked as a secretary in the Deuel County Highway Department until 1959, then as a clerk in the Department of Motor Vehicles, issuing some of the first driver's licenses in SD, from 1959 until 1961. GeorgiaMae then transferred to the South Dakota Highway Patrol as a statistician from 1961 to 1969. They moved to Rapid City where she worked as a licensed insurance agent until 1974. She was bookkeeper for the Central States Fair from 1974 until 1978 and for the Wyoming Fair from 1980 until 1983. She last worked as an insurance agent in Casper Wyoming from 1985 until her retirement. GeorgiaMae loved embroidery and small and large game hunting with her husband, Harold. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary, Business and Professional Women, and was very active in the Knollwood Heights Methodist Church in Rapid City, working as Treasurer from 1970 to 1975. GeorgiaMae Krosschell, 89, Rapid City, died, Friday, April 10, 2015, at the Golden Living Center Black Hills. She is survived by her daughter, Linda (William) Marchand, Rapid City; two sons, H.G. (Connie) Krosschell, Rapid City, and James (Diana) Krosschell, Boise, ID; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; parents, George and Emma; and her step-mother, Lou Knochenmuss. A memorial has been established to the DAV.
