Community Group Questions, April 5, 2015
1. Family Question: Starting with the youngest give one thing that
Easter means to you.
2. Look at Matthew 28 and John 20, the two accounts used Sunday to
tell of the resurrection.
3. What stands out to you in these passages?
4. What do you not quite understand?
5. What would you put on a banner and fly behind a plane if you
could? Can you?
6. Now try to put yourself in the shoes of someone who is just learning
about Jesus and answer the most important question we can ask in
studying the Bible, “so what?”
7. We saw 5 people baptized on Sunday, what did that mean to you
personally?
8. If we are still in the “shoes” mentioned in question #6, what would
follow if we started with, Belief, Baptism and…?

What can a person possibly say that would
catch the attention of the people around you.
Another line would be “HE HAS RISEN!”
To most of us gathered here today that will mean something. It can be the most
important information we will ever receive if we hold that to be true. In Romans
10 the Apostle Paul tells us
“That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your
heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with
your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that
you confess and are saved”.
Actually saved from sin, because of what Jesus did for us on the cross and
then in believing by faith we receive forgiveness. It requires us to confess with
our mouth and believe in our hearts.
Those two parts of the body came up this week at a baptism training class. It’s
one thing to mouth the words that your brain understands, but so much more
to say you actually believe deep down in your heart of hearts.
We are going to witness at least 5 people be baptized today. I say “at least”
because at our last baptismal service I gave an opportunity for people to be
baptized on the spot and two came forward and said, “yes!”
As a pastor I am well aware that “attention” and “information” are important.
This is the most important day on our calendar, bar none, because Christianity
stands or falls based on whether or not Jesus rose from the dead. Do you
realize this is why we say this is 2015? 2015 A.D. actually stands for “Anno
Domini” which in Latin means, “in the year of our Lord”. History itself was so
affected by Jesus that we have been counting the years ever since. But why
should you care? The Bible tells us that we are designed to be eternal. Where
we spend eternity depends on what we do with Jesus who died, and rose
again, to take our place for the things we do in life naturally and by choice that
separate us from God. The Bible uses the term “Sin”. But it is not just a matter of correcting sin, but rather the joy of actually having
a relationship with God Himself from this day forward by believing in Him. “Fire!” Now that I have your attention…consider what God offers you right
here, right now!
