Dear
Parents
and
Caregivers
At
the
end
of
first
term,
on
Thursday
2
April,
we
recognised
our
students
who
excelled
during
Term
One.
I
would
like
to
congratulate
these
students
for
their
perseverance,
responsibility
and
effort
during
the
term.
A
full
list
of
the
award
winners
is
contained
within
this
bulletin.
Everyone
and
indeed
every
student,
has
the
opportunity
to
achieve
to
their
own
full
potential.
Research
tells
us
that
those
students
who
persevere,
take
their
education
seriously
and
simply
give
their
best
to
all
opportunities
will
have
a
far
greater
chance
of
success
in
all
aspects
of
their
lives.
In
terms
of
what
a
student
did
yesterday
and
what
they
do
now,
will
in
the
majority
of
cases
be
what
they
will
do
tomorrow.
In
other
words
there
is
no
better
time
to
start
taking
their
education
seriously
than
today,
as
sure
enough,
there
is
another
student
in
another
school,
who
will
take
that
job,
that
career,
or
that
place
at
TAFE
or
University.
If
individuals
don’t
start
taking
their
educational
opportunities
seriously
now,
giving
it
their
best
efforts,
these
opportunities
will
be
taken
by
others.
On
Friday
24
April
we
conducted
our
Anzac
Day
service.
I
was
very
impressed
and
proud
of
all
students
of
Kinross
College,
who
behaved
appropriately
and
gave
the
ceremony
its
rightful
dignity.
A
huge
thanks
to
Ms
Tina
Nottle,
in
particular
and
the
many
staff
who
had
a
part
to
play
in
making
the
ceremony
memorable
for
all
who
attended.
The
Kinross
College
Rangers
led
the
service
with
all
the
military
style
and
ceremony
that
such
an
occasion
demands,
receiving
high
praise
from
all
visiting
dignitaries.
Many
of
the
same
Rangers
participated
in
the
Anzac
Day
march
through
Perth
on
Saturday
25
April.
I
think
the
effort
and
behaviour
of
all
students
at
Kinross
College
demonstrate
what
a
fine
group
of
students
we
have
and
how
they
can
all
rise
to
an
occasion.

THE
ROLE
OF
THE
COMMUNITY
HEALTH
NURSE
IN
SECONDARY
SCHOOLS.
Hello,
my
name
is
Danielle
Gilsenan.
I
am
one
of
the
nurses
allocated
from
the
Northern
Metropolitan
Community
Nursing
Team
to
Kinross
College.
Our
nursing
team
covers
a
number
of
high
schools
across
the
region
and
is
available
on
different
days
during
each
school
term.
This
availability
can
be
accessed
via
the
front
office
at
the
College.
So
what
do
we
do
in
schools?
Our
work
primarily
concerns
prevention
of
illness
rather
than
cure.
This
includes,
but
is
not
exclusive
to;
• Providing
access
to
students
for
primary
health
care
and
health
counselling,
• Referral
to
health
and
other
services,
• Monitoring
and
follow
up
of
students
at
risk,
• Exploring
students’
individual
health
options,
• Assisting
students
to
make
personal
decisions
and
setting
goals,
• Working
with
the
College
to
promote
health
initiatives
such
as
mental
health
topics
within
the
Personal
Development
Programme,
• Supporting
teachers
to
identify,
monitor
and
manage
health
conditions
within
the
classroom
and
wider
school
community,
• Supporting
teachers
in
health‐related
curriculum,
• Providing
information
and
advice
to
students
and
their
families
so
they
may
make
informed
decisions
about
their
health,
well‐being
and
development.
Our
health
service
is
not
designed
to
provide
care
for
sick
students,
or
supply
medications
and
medical
supplies.
In
the
event
of
students
becoming
sick
or
sustaining
an
injury
whilst
at
school
we
ask
that
you
provide
the
school
with
information
listing
emergency
contact
people
(three
contact
people
if
possible)
who
would
be
available
to
arrange
transport,
care
and
treatment
for
your
child
as
required.
Within
the
fortnightly
e‐bulletin
we
will
be
discussing
a
different
topic
in
relation
to
health
that
parents
can
assist,
support
or
discuss
with
their
child.
Some
examples
of
topics
include
resilience,
self‐image
issues,
anti‐bullying,
immunisation,
drugs
and
alcohol,
cyber
safety
etc.

Domestic and Family Violence Month
May is Domestic and Family Violence month. Domestic Violence is a form of
violence that can occur in any relationship. There are three different types

•
Tries to control your behaviour
Gets jealous easily
Insults you in public or private
Makes you feel confused or like you are going 'crazy'
Threatens violence against you, your pets, or people you love
Makes you feel scared.
If you or someone you know is a victim of domestic and family violence you can
