Annual KKHS Spring Concert at
7pm at Maui Arts & Cultural
Center’s CASTLE THEATER: Doors
open at 6:30pm and admission is FREE! We will have
58 students from the Wind Ensemble (Symphonic
Band), Concert Choir (Chorus), Na Ali'i Big Band
(Jazz), & Guitar/Poly Ensemble sharing their talents,
so please come out & show your support!

against all other high schools in Maui County to show
how much spirit we have!

! Upper Fire Lane Gates Closed: 7:15am to
3:15pm Daily: The lower (stadium) fire lane gate is
open. Please use caution when driving through the fire
lanes... we continue to have reports of vehicles
speeding.
! Bees Alert - “Stay Off the Grass!” Last week
our Health Aide, Mrs. Spencer, reported that lately,
several students were stung by BEES due to all the
Clover flowers. She had a gentle reminder to students
to please “Stay Off the Grass!”

! Mon, April 13th - Deadline to Sign up for
COMPASS Test: To sign up, please go online
to http://goo.gl/forms/QK26pjYpWg to sign up
or see Ms. Haines-Swatek in K201. The
COMPASS test will be held on Wed, April 22nd
during periods 4 & 5. It is for students who plan
to attend UH Maui College (UHMC) after
graduation or plan to enroll in Running Start as
a senior. Students will not be allowed to register
for classes at UHMC until they have taken the
COMPASS exam. Students who are not able to
take the test at KKHS or are testing for the 2nd
time, can also visit the UHMC Learning Center.

There will be 50+ colleges & universities from
across the USA & overseas. This will be a great
opportunity for students to learn from the experts
about the various colleges, including admission &
scholarship information. A general college
advising & financial aid center will be available to
students & their families to answer specific
questions regarding the college admission
process & financial aid.

! Annual Kekaulike Blood Drive, Mon,
April 27, 9:15am-2:45pm:, KKHS Gym:
Plans (PTP) are NOT GRADED as SATISFACTORY,
must complete & receive a Satisfactory grade, or they
will receive passes in their Advisory classes to report to
the library. They will NOT be allowed to attend song
practice & this counts as an absence from song
practices as applies to the Senior Contract. Students
who fail to report to the library will receive a Class C
offense, Class Cut.
Students who turn in PTPs after 8am, Wed, April
th
15 or on Th, April 16th will still need to report to the

! AP Literature & Honors English C/O2016: If
your teen signed up for AP Literature or Honors
Seniors English, they should pick up their summer
work in G-205 during non-class time. Students who
fail to pick up their work & return the parent/student
agreement by May 22, 2015 will be dropped from
these classes.
! Celebrate Reading Maui, Fri, April 24 at
UHMC: Excursions forms are available in the KKHS
library. This year's event will feature the author Lois
Ann Yamanaka, creative writing, & slam poetry.
There's no expense for this event. Reservations are
made on a first come, first served basis. Return
excursion forms promptly to secure a seat on the bus.

! Hawaii SBAC in ELA & Mathematics, Mon,
April 13-Fri, May 1: Our Grade 11 students will be
taking the Hawaii Smarter Balanced Assessment
(SBA) in English Language Arts (ELA) & Mathematics.
There are two components to the assessment for each
content area; Computer Adaptive Test (CAT) & the
Performance Task (PT).

Needed: The Drama Club's annual "Media
Madness" Fair will be held on Sat, April 18th from
8am-12 noon. It’s a huge used book, DVD, CD
sale, while club members entertain! If you would

unneeded media littering your shelves or
closets??? The Drama Club would LOVE
donations of old (or new!) books, DVDs, or CDs
