GRAND KNIGHT NOTES BY GREG JOHNSON GRAND KNIGHT OF BISHOP SPALDING COUNCIL Greetings to all, I would like to wish everyone a happy Derby Week! I hope you all enjoy the Derby Festival as much as I do! Don't forget to buy your Pegasus pins at the Council! By the time you receive this issue, the Charity Dinner will have taken place April 27th, at The Galt House, and I am sure a great time was had by all. A very heart felt thank you to all who participated and organized this very worthwhile event. Elections for Council Officers for the 2015-16 term will take place during May's Council Meeting. If you are interested in running for any office, please contact me at 386-4672 or [email protected]. The Children's Easter Party, held March 29th, was also a huge success, and a great time was had by all! The pictures taken with the Easter Bunny will be available for pick up at our Sunday dinners for the next few weeks. The Trivia Day, April 12th, was also a big success! Thank you to Becky Bosse, Rosi McGrath and Ken Rosenbaum for all their hard work! And to all who participated. The next Trivia Day is already in the planning stages and will be announced soon. The Great Steamboat Race will be held Wednesday, April 29th. The bar will open at 4pm and dinner will be served from 5-7PM. We will have a good crowd for this event so parking may be limited. Please have your membership card with you or a copy of the The Good Knight with your name on it. Our Annual Mother's Day Buffet will be on Mother's Day, May 10th. Adults are $11.00 and children under 12 are $6.00. Give Mom a break from the kitchen this year and let us do all the cooking and cleaning! Reservations are requested for this event so that we may plan accordingly. Please call the council at 893-2220 and leave your name and number in party. The Knights of Columbus Kentucky State Council 111th State Convention will be held on May 15th, 16th and 17th 2015 at the Ramada Plaza Hotel (9700 Bluegrass Parkway, 40222). Cost of registration is $10.00 per KofC member, and the deadline for registration is April 30th, 2015. The deadline for hotel reservations is May 1st, 2015. Forms will be available at the council or you can contact me at 386-4672. Just around the corner... Pool membership applications are now available. Please consider joining this year. We are VERY affordable compared with memberships of other local pools. What better way to treat the kids/grandkids than a fun summer at the pool! Pool memberships are open to all Knights of Columbus members, so if you know a brother Knight from another Council that would enjoy our pool, please encourage them to join as well. Work details for the park and pool as well as for the boat docks are underway. If you would like to participate, please contact the council at 893-2220, Greg Johnson at 3864672, or Dennis Bosse at 448-7446. We would greatly appreciate any help that you can give us. I would like to remind all our members that our hall is available for rentals at very competitive rates. This includes family reunions, birthdays, anniversary's, wedding receptions or any business meeting that you may have. For more information, please contact the council at 893-2220. As always, I would like to urge everyone to attend our Wednesday Lunches and our Friday and Sunday dinners as this is a great opportunity to socialize with your fellow Knights and their families as well as support the councils day to day operations.
