Run an NPO that deals with social issues especially around abuse and addiction.

Elected member of the current SGB at Kommetjie Primary School (April 2014-March 2015)
Reason(s) for wanting to serve on the SGB:
I have an interest in educational matters in the whole Deep South. Kommetjie and surrounding
areas are about to grow and this will impact our school. I wish to address this matter. The
previous governing body did a brilliant job in resourcing the school and buildings. I wish to
focus primarily on all people involved in the school as well as development of the pupils.
What are the important issues that you would like to address if you should be elected?
Obviously I would like to address the growing pressure on our school due to an increase in
population. This includes lobbying for a high school.
I also wish to focus on personal development amongst the pupils. This includes exposing them
to social issues and leadership. I believe that pupils should not just have a solid academic
foundation, but also have strong spiritual and emotional input. They must be prepared for what
life throws at them and learn to be active in society - even from a young age.
I also believe in resourcing the teachers and teacher assistance to be able to do their task
properly.
