Y O 2012-2013 Annual Report U A YEAR OF PROVIDING ACCESS, MADE POSSIBLE BY 96,600 Komen Atlanta and its grantees provided more than 96,600 Atlantans with access to vital breast health services and information during its 2012-2013 fiscal year. WELCOME 2 DEAR KOMEN For over 22 years, Komen Atlanta has been providing metro Atlanta women with access to the education, breast screenings, diagnostic and support services they need to enable them to detect and survive breast cancer. With the support of our dedicated donors, volunteers, friends and staff, Komen Atlanta continues to be the ATLANTA FRIENDS, local leader in the fight against breast cancer. During our 2012-2013 fiscal year, Komen Atlanta is proud to have awarded over $2.8 million in grants, with $2.2 million (75%) of net funds invested in our local community and $602,000 (25%) into global research to better diagnose, treat and ultimately cure breast cancer. We reached 96,600 metro Atlantans this year through our local grants and education programs; yet, when we look at the challenges still faced by women suffering from this disease, we know much remains for us to do. Komen Atlanta remains steadfast in the promise Nancy G. Brinker made to her dying sister, Susan G. Komen, to end breast cancer forever, and we are grateful for the support from you and many others that allows us to continue our work. Together, we can fulfill the promise!
