Senior Project Manager Duration of job May to October 2015 / 6 months 1 month trial period Background & purpose of job: Lake of Stars (LOS) is a year -­‐round project that organises music and cultural events in Malawi and the UK. Our highest profile event, the Lake of Stars Festival, is Malawi’s leading arts event and the biggest single generator of positive media coverage for the country. Since 2004, we have delivered nine three day festivals on the shores of Lake Malawi, one week-­‐long urban festival in Lilongwe and numerous warm up and profile raising events that have contributed to the cultural and economic development of Malawi. Following a successful return to the lake in 2014, we are now planning the 2015 Lake of Stars Festival, taking place September 25 – 27 in Mangochi, plus a range of other exciting events. We are seeking a highly motivated, organised and committed Marketing & Logistics Executive to join our team and help on the planning and delivery of the LOS portfolio. Main duties and responsibilities: Marketing & sales support Ø Serve as day to day point of contact for queries regarding festival attendance & information Ø Maintain marketing contacts database Ø Track ticket sales activity, providing regular updates and progress reports Ø Liaise with ticket sales outlets Ø Support design and production of creative materials for all events Ø Undertake copywriting duties Ø Create newsletters and other communication tools Ø Oversee local street level promotional activity Ø Undertake research on new opportunities for local and regional marketing channels Ø Carry out other general marketing duties as required PR support and coordination Ø Build positive working relationship with external PR agency, media outlets and individuals Ø Work with wider team to maximise PR opportunities for artists Ø Maintain PR contacts database Logistics support Ø Answer ongoing accommodation enquiries from festival-­‐goers and manage any bookings www.lakeofstars.org

Regularly update accommodation bookings database and maintain detailed records Support with researching and booking international flights and transfers Collate artist, crew and volunteer accommodation and travel requirements Build positive working relationships with transport and accommodation partners Manage general festival enquiries email inbox Provide general administrative support to the wider team Regularly attend live music and other cultural events Attend networking events as required Person specification Behaviours Skills and Knowledge Essential Desirable Working together: • Creating a positive working environment in which others can work together as part of one team.
