May 2015 Newsletter - The Landings New Neighbors

May 2015
From The President
New Neighbors Members,
May is a beautiful month at The Landings and time for many to head to summer activities – whether to
seasonal homes or vacation destinations. It’s also the time for reflection as we look back on an
exceptional Landings New Neighbors year.
We’ve had a terrific time, welcoming more than 115 households into our organization. We went Over the
Rainbow and challenged NN Grads to a Homecoming golf match. In the past 12 months, we visited Forts
Stewart and McAllister, Hunter AAF, Parris Island, and the Museum of the Mighty Eighth. Didn’t we
enjoy tours of Historic Squares and Inns, Jekyll and Ossabow Islands, Bethesda and Wormsloe? Our
artistic senses were piqued at SCAD, the Telfair and Jepson Museums, and the Walking Tour of
Beaufort. Our Wild Women had a great time at the Old Savannah Theatre and running the Amazing
Race. We packed hundreds of food cartons for senior citizens and created at least 55 dozen cupcakes
for the kids at Safe Shelter. We ate and ate and ate - at Vic’s on the River, Lady and Sons, Cohen’s
Retreat, 45 Bistro, DeSoto and Sapphire Grill, Bella’s, Collins Quarter, the River House, Belford’s, and
Huey’s, as well as at the homes of our new friends and our Landings Clubhouses. All the while playing
bridge, canasta, mah jongg, bunco, pickelball…………… And in April we kicked up our heels Rockin’ the Club
in our finest attire!
Each May New Neighbors hosts a lovely ceremony where we graduate a portion of our membership –
members who have developed new friendships, enjoyed a wide range of activities and social events, and
shared their thoughts and ideas about moving to The Landings and Savannah. They’ve met those goals
and are ready to find their way in our new world. We hope you’ll join us as we wish a fond farewell to our
2015 graduates at the May 15th Luncheon.
This is also my fond farewell. I have been thrilled to be a member of this great organization and
honored to have served as your president this year. I thank our current Board and Activity Chairs for
their dedicated service and send sincere good wishes to those who follow us. I look forward to the next
stage of my life here at The Landings and seeing all of you around our Island.

FROM YOUR ACTIVITY CHAIRS
THE MEMO
We are approaching the end of this magical year and, oh my, how much we have learned. Our exemplary
Activity Chairs have lead our navigation through Skidaway Island, parts of Georgia and South Carolina,
downtown Savannah, and a multitude of restaurants and local attractions. These leaders have given
tirelessly to enhance our New Neighbor experience. Now is the time for a pat on the back, a big smile,
and a thank you for "job well done."
Although some activities go on hiatus during the summer months, many will be active throughout the
summer. Continue the fun by referring to the New Neighbors’ website and explore your options.
May 15th is the end of the year party (lunch) to recognize those graduating this year. Another
opportunity to exchange email info with that special person with whom you've enjoyed spending time
participating in an activity this year. Join in, have lunch, and "hug a graduate."
The conclusion of our term as Activity Coordinators is bittersweet. Moving in a different direction is
refreshing, but working with so many intelligent, talented, giving people with and through New Neighbors
is an invaluable experience. We are truly living “Somewhere over the Rainbow, where bluebirds fly" with
genuinely good, giving and phenomenal neighbors.
Thank you for the gift of serving you...and remember.........
ENJOY!!!!
Connie Kulp & Wyndie Eberle
