FROM THE SOCIAL SIDE OF THINGS…….

Our next General Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, 21st April. Find out what has been
happening in and around the Shed. Have we got any money left in the till??? Who has been
doing what! All will be revealed at the meeting. 10am for an 10.30am start. AND THEN…..
Stay on for our “beer and bickies” social event. This will run through the afternoon, with
things to do and people to get to know. A good lunch will be provided, and a can of the “cold
stuff” for $2, or a soft one for $1. Join the blokes for a good afternoon out. If you able,

Nils Hoff from Air Liquide, will be a guest speaker at our next meeting,
April 21st. Specialist advice on sleep apnea and respiratory problems.
The Ironman triathlon is on again, 3rd
May.. John Denyer heads this up and
again, a good fund raiser for the shed.
A good day out, as a marshall, with
little to do. Talk to John.
Are we legal yet? Certification of the building
Just one step away, a new arborist met Erroll
and certifier Ross Frazier at the shed last
week, the arborist will send a favourable
report this week and Ross will then sign the
dwelling as compliant.
Shed member, Phil Bowman is sailing
solo around Australia. Here is the

April 2015. 1033hrs.
Towed into Bum’s Bay, Southport
yesterday by VMR, thanks boys,
engine breakdown with overheating.
Only positive was that it was still running
when I shut it down. Will have to wait until
Tuesday for a diesel mechanic.
Anyone have a suggestion who is good?
We all know these two quiet achievers, Steve and Michael.
Steve is the one who does all sorts of amazing things with his
lathe, and Michael usually has his hands a bit dirty, working on his
scratch built steam, train engine. Well, we have talked both of
these blokes into joining our “This was your life” segment.
Both are shy, “work in the background” kind of men, but they have
an interesting story to tell. We are hoping that Steve will be our
guest for the meeting, of May 19th. . Michael, June 16th.
STOP PRESS …….. There is a working bee at the Shed garden tomorrow, Friday 10th. This is
to finish the path and ‘ground’ garden beds. This is the one postponed from last week due to rain.
The Shed is represented each
month at the Riverwalk Market.
An opportunity to fly the LMS
‘flag’ even tho we don’t have a
flag. It is a great opportunity
to let the community know about
us, to display some of the things
that we get up to and to sell
some of the products of the
Shed. Maybe you could give an hour or two to be involved.
Talk to Rob Ritchie, he can give you a run down of what happens.

A Shed member raised $150 for the shed
by making 6 of these plant stools, using
timber that we had donated to us.
He also made two for the shed to sell,

Our own smithy… we leave it
to you to think of ‘sinewy
hands’, or ‘brawny arms’, but
our own Rob Scott is the one to
see if you are interested in
things that are ‘red hot’.
A crew of hardy souls manned the Bar B Q at Bunnings,
Easter Saturday. Over 600 “snag sangers” were dispensed.
And if you remember Easter Saturday, well it was WET.
The result, $882 for the bank. Thanks and well done, Fellas.
In the last Shavings, we ran this shot of a
well known member and asked for some
captions. Well we got some, and with
tongue in cheek, here they are !

long sleeve shirt, no gloves”.
Our question; what is this?
“The tool looks similar to the type
of tools used for cleaning battery
lead terminal connections. Some
earlier battery leads were
secured by screw hence the
screw driver tool., the other two
look like a coarse and fine hone
tool to reset the lead terminal to
the battery post”. Thanks Emil.
