Volunteer Contracts along with volunteer service logs were distributed to all parents on December 19,
2014. All parents were required to return the volunteer contract along with your volunteer log for the first
semester on or before January 9, 2015. All parents are required to have a minimum of 20 volunteer hours
per year at LPA. As a reminder, failure to complete your 20 hours will result in your family forfeiting your
seat for next school term. School/classroom donations will be accepted for volunteer hours. Each $10 you
spend on supplies earns one (1) volunteer hour. You must submit receipts in order to receive credit for
your donations. You can also “purchase” volunteer hours at $10.00 per volunteer hour. Make your
donation on the www.mypaymentplus.com website. The final day you can complete volunteer hours is
May 8, 2015. All Volunteer logs should be turned in to Ms. Griffith no later than May 13, 2015.

On May 7, 2015 at 11:07am, the State of Georgia, Board of Education voted unanimously to approve the
Charter Renewal Petition of Leadership Preparatory Academy for an additional 5 years beginning on June
30, 2015 and running through June 30, 2020. They were so impressed with the application and the progress
of the school, that they voted on May 6th to expedite the approval, causing it to be approved a month
earlier than originally scheduled. “The world of education will no longer be the same as a result of the
wisdom of this public service panel called the Board of Education” said Lonnie Hall, CEO and a Founding
Director at LPA. Dr. Tonya Williams, who has been serving in a dual role as both the Chief Academic Officer
for the last two years, and the interim Chief Learning Officer for almost as long, remarked that “…this is a
significant turning point in the history of this institution. We are poised to focus our attention on achieving
even greater outcomes for our students as we seek to become the highest performing charter school in the
nation. Obviously the rigor and relevance will increase again, and significantly. We have already begun
putting policies in place that support the kind of higher level learning that is expected of the students, and
demanded by the faculty and our Governance Board.“ Mr. Hall added that “we are now focusing on
insuring that commitments from students, parents and faculty alike are made and kept as they are related
to student achievement. This is a new order and again, another new standard of achievement.”
