It’s nice to have a friend because a friend is there for you. A friend can help you when you’re feeling blue. A friend lets you play and tries not to leave you out, And listens and respects you even if you yell and shout. Illustration by Ximena Gavito, Kindergarten I have a friend that I met on the playground one day. I asked, “Would you like to be friends?” in a brave way. A friend can be hard to find, but I bet you can make a friend on the first try! Illustration by Lily Snider, 1st grade Friends sometimes disagree because your friend is not exactly like you. The choice your friend makes may not be good for you to do. When that happens it can help to talk it through, Making a different choice is okay, too.
