Principal’s Message
With Spring Break and Easter behind us we are now heading towards the home
stretch. This last semester is filled with activities for our students to enjoy. Some of
those activities include Heritage Fair, field trips, festival de théâtre, track and field and
more. All these activities are made possible by the dedication and relentless efforts of the
teaching staff at Lloyd George. I would like to take this time to thank all our staff
members for their hard work to ensure that our students are not only successful but also
can build self-esteem and expand their comprehension through extra-curricular activities.
I would also like to congratulate those students that participated in the Concours d’arts
oratoires. They made our school proud.
Looking forward to next year, our projected numbers are the same as this year. Our
kindergarten registration is now complete as we are full for next year. We are also writing
a new School Improvement Plan that will guide us through the next three years. A big
thank you to all who answered the satisfaction surveys. These results, along with data
collected at school and results from the FSAs are considered in the creation of our School
Improvement Plan.
Finally, with the nice weather getting closer, I would like to remind everyone about our
school dress code. No spaghetti straps are permitted. The length of shorts and skirts has
to be the length of the person’s finger tips. In other words, when a person puts her hands
down her side, she should not be touching skin.
Thank you for your support with this matter and have a great spring!

This year 63 students were involved in Battle of the Books. Students have been reading novels and answering
questions and they are ready to challenge other teams! School teams will be determined at this week’s school
“Battles”. The Zone Battle of the Books will be held Thursday, April 16th at Bert Edwards Science School.
A big THANK YOU to the students and families who donated shoes, books and toys for Mme Cauchon’s
Guatemala trip. She leaves for Chimaltenango, Guatemala on April 11th, her bags stuffed with your donations.
She still has room for one 50 pound bag! So far she has collected $180 to purchase water filters. Clean water is not
always available and sick children cannot learn! Families wishing to make a larger donation can write a cheque in
the name of “Medicos en Accion” and add “My Melody School” on the subject line. These can be given to Mme
Cauchon or placed in the water jug that is on the office counter. Thank you for your generosity!
Author Joel Sutherland will be presenting to grades 6 and 7 on Monday, May 4th. He is the author of the
“Haunted Canada” series. For more information, please visit the following website http://
