RHAPSODY IN BLUE
THE HAUNTED HOUSE
Composers and close friends Gershwin and Ravel take us on
a walkabout with An American in Paris, followed by the flashy
Piano Concerto in G, featuring pianist Mark Markham. This jazzy
French night closes with Tombeau de Couperin and an ecstatic
performance of Rhapsody in Blue.
Enjoy spooky orchestra classics, such as Night
on Bald Mountain, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice,
and Harry Potter. On the second half, the orchestra provides
live musical accompaniment to Buster Keaton’s silent film The
Haunted House (1921), a short comedy about a bank teller who
becomes involved in a hold-up, counterfeiters, and a theatrical
troupe posing as spooks in a haunted house. Wear your favorite
Halloween costume!
