Summer Time
It may seem like summer is a long way off especially with
these cold temperatures and winter weather but now is
the time to make plans to attend the 98th Annual Lions
Clubs International Convention in sunny warm Honolulu,
Hawaii. The convention will be held June 26 – June 30th.
Many activities are planned. The annual International
Parade is always a favorite event. There will be plenary
sessions and the election of our next international
president. In addition, the Virginia Lions will be hosting a
luau. Register today and hope to see you in Hawaii.

State Convention 411
by Bert Colley, 1st Vice District Governor
Before I say anything for the May issue of the Bark of the C Lion, here’s a correction for my report last month: I
said you should remit 2/3 of your LOVF raffle ticket sales money along with the stubs AND all unsold tickets.
Actually, your club keeps 2/3, and LOVF gets 1/3. Please accept my apologies for any confusion this may have
caused.
We’re just a few days away from State Convention! I do hope you’re planning to attend. Briefly, the schedule
calls for District Cabinet Meetings on Friday beginning at 9:00 a.m. and the General Session begins at 2:00. Friday
dinner is on your own, and the Bland Contest starts at 7:30. And then top off your evening with a visit to the
Hospitality Rooms.
On Saturday morning, from 8:30 to 9:30, you can choose to learn about our Centennial Celebration, Club
President’s School, Club Secretaries School, Membership, Leader Dog, LOVF, or Redistricting. Take a 15 minute
break, and then choose from Club Treasurer’s School, Tail Twister, Canine Companions, SPOT, Zone/Region Chair,
Leadership or Redistricting. I encourage you to attend one of the Redistricting sessions. This plan will affect each
and every one of us over the next couple of years, and there are parts of it that we probably won’t be very happy
with. Learn as much as you can about redistricting. Eventually we will have to vote on how we’re going to do it.
The Second General Session will run from 2:30 to 4:30. From 4:30 to 5:30, there will be an open meeting on the
Regional Lions Leadership Institute (RLLI). Then get ready for the Reception and Banquet, and more socializing at
the Hospitality Rooms.
Sunday morning, beginning at 8:45, each District will meet separately and hold its election for 2nd Vice District
Governor, 1st Vice District Governor, and District Governor.
I cordially invite you to join my team at our Hospitality Room. Introduce yourself! We look forward to working
with you in 2015-16. We appreciate your support! Enjoy the Convention!
