Creating Value in a Smart, Connected World
With the rise of what is commonly known as the Internet of
Things, the world has entered the third great wave of IT driven
innovation. Technology first used to drive internal process
automation was later used to drive external collaboration and
integration. Now, technology is being used to drive massive
innovation in product and service value creation. PTC’s CEO
Jim Heppelmann is the co-author of the industry’s seminal
piece defining the impact of smart, connected products on
competition published in the Harvard Business Review. In this
keynote, Mr. Heppelmann will share his latest thinking on the
incredible new value opportunities facing those who create,
operate and service products for today’s smart, connected
world and how to move forward on your own journey toward
this exciting future.

James (Jim) Heppelmann is the
president and chief executive officer
(CEO) of PTC, responsible for driving
the company’s global business
strategy and operations. During Mr.
Heppelmann’s leadership tenure,
PTC has assembled the industry’s
most comprehensive technology
capabilities that enable companies to create, connect,
operate, and service smart, connected products. He also
serves on PTC’s Board of Directors.
Honored as 2014 Internet of Things (IoT) CEO of the Year,
Mr. Heppelmann is seen as a thought leader in the IoT
space. He co-authored with Harvard Professor Michael E.
Porter the seminal article on the Internet of Things in the
November 2014 issue of Harvard Business Review, called
“How Smart, Connected Products are Transforming
Competition.” He also speaks regularly around the globe
on the subject and was recently a featured speaker at
Brookings Institution regarding the role of digitization in
America’s advanced industries. He has been published
and quoted in numerous global business and trade
media, including The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, and
Bloomberg Businessweek.
Mr. Heppelmann is a member of the board of directors
at SENSATA, a world leader in automotive and industrial
sensors and controls. He serves as a member of the Dean’s
advisory board at the University of Minnesota College
of Science & Engineering, and is an executive advisory
board member of the national FIRST (For Inspiration and
Recognition of Science and Technology). Mr. Heppelmann
was recently recognized as one of the “Top 100 CEO Leaders
in STEM” by the STEMconnector organization.
Prior to his appointment as CEO in 2010, Mr. Heppelmann
served as PTC’s president and chief operating officer,
responsible for managing the operating business units
of the company including R&D, marketing, sales, and
services. From 2001 to 2009, he served as PTC’s chief
technology officer, driving the company’s product vision
and strategy, product design and development, and product
marketing and management.

Mr. Heppelmann joined PTC in 1998 when the company
acquired Windchill Technology, a Minnesota-based
company that he co-founded and served as its chief
technology officer. Before co-founding Windchill
Technology, Mr. Heppelmann served as chief technology
officer at Metaphase Technology.
Mr. Heppelmann attended University of Minnesota, where
he earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
with an emphasis on computer-aided design.

Michael (Mike) Campbell is Executive
Vice President, CAD segment at
PTC. In this role, Mr. Campbell has
responsibility for the leadership and
financial management of PTC’s CAD
market segment including market
analysis, solution definition, solution marketing, and strategic
business and customer development activities.
Mr. Campbell most recently served as the divisional general
manager, CAD segment at PTC. He was previously the
divisional vice president of product development for the
PTC Creo® design and visualization family of products,
responsible for overseeing R&D and Product Management
activities, including product strategy, requirements definition,
software product delivery and quality.
Since joining PTC in 1995, Mr. Campbell has held several
positions in development, product planning and technical
marketing. Previous responsibilities encompass R&D and
Product Management of the Arbortext product family and the
Product Management of PTC’s desktop products, including
creation, improvement, competitiveness and quality of
Pro/ENGINEER®, CoCreate® and Mathcad®. He’s been
involved in many aspects of planning, designing and
developing specifications for improvements to Pro/ENGINEER,
addressing the business requirements of discrete
manufacturers. Prior to joining PTC, Mr. Campbell worked at
GTech in the construction and redesign of prototype units.
Mr. Campbell has spoken at various product development
and manufacturing industry events on topics such as creative
product design, mechanical design and CAD/CAM software
development.
Mr. Campbell attended Boston University where he earned a
bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
Brian Shepherd, Executive Vice

Brian Shepherd is executive vice
president, Enterprise Segments
at PTC. In this role, Mr. Shepherd
has responsibility for the crosssegment leadership and financial
management of PTC’s Product
Lifecycle Management (PLM), Application Lifecycle
Management (ALM), and Service Lifecycle Management
(SLM), and is additionally responsible for driving PTC’s
Systems Engineering strategy.
Mr. Shepherd previously served as executive vice president of
product development for PTC. In this role, he was responsible
for product management, design, development, testing, and
delivery for PTC Windchill® product lifecycle management
software and the PTC Creo® design and visualization family
of products. Since joining PTC in 1996, Mr. Shepherd has held
positions in product management for simulation products
and the MCAD product portfolio. Prior to PTC, Mr. Shepherd
served for ten years at Nortel Networks as a member of the
scientific staff and a manager of product integrity.
Mr. Shepherd is a frequent speaker at industry events
worldwide such as National Manufacturing Week, the
American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Research Development and Design Expo, the Product
Development Summit, the Innovation Leadership Summit
and the Global OEM Automotive Meeting. He has spoken
on the importance and future of product development and
product lifecycle management to thousands of product
development professionals around the world.

Rob Gremley is executive vice
president, Connected Product
Management (CPM) and Internet
of Things (IoT) segments at PTC. In
this role, Mr. Gremley has global
responsibility for all aspects of
PTC’s CPM and IOT businesses, including strategy, financial
management, organizational leadership and the creation
and execution of best practices to help manufacturers
create, operate, and service smart, connected products in
the transformational IoT era.
Mr. Gremley most recently served as executive vice
president, Product Development and Corporate Marketing
at PTC. In that role, he had responsibility for providing
leadership and oversight of PTC’s research and development
organization and for executing PTC’s global brand strategy,
marketing campaigns and worldwide marketing operations.
Prior to his role in global marketing, Mr. Gremley was
senior vice president of MCAD sales programs, responsible
for developing and implementing sales programs focused
on driving Pro/ENGINEER sales in the mid-market.
Additionally, Mr. Gremley has served as vice president of
global services, responsible for PTC’s global services line of
business, including consulting and education services.
Mr. Gremley earned both a master of science and a bachelor of
science in mechanical engineering from Worcester Polytechnic
Institute in 1988 and 1986, respectively.
Accelerating Innovation Through the Digital
Tapestry – An Orion Story
When an unmanned Orion spacecraft launched atop a
Delta IV heavy rocket from Cape Canaveral Air Force
Station, Florida, December 5, 2014, it marked a big step
in the next era of human space exploration.
To develop Orion, as well as other spacecraft and satellites,
prime contractor Lockheed Martin is relying on the
Digital Tapestry –designing and developing in the digital
domain – enabled through PTC solutions and technology to
accelerate innovation and create breakthroughs.
Brynn Watson, Vice President,
Engineering Operations,
Lockheed Martin Space
Systems Company
Brynn Watson is the Lockheed Martin
Space Systems Company (SSC) Vice
President of Engineering Operations,
leading over 5,300 engineers and
ensuring effective and competitive
people, processes, tools, technologies and services are
applied to all Space Systems Company programs.
Previously, Ms. Watson was SSC’s Director of Software
Engineering responsible for the execution and strategic
direction for the 1,200-strong software product workforce.
She also led SSC’s Digital Tapestry strategic initiative,
responsible for maximizing digital integration and endto-end system modeling across SSC. Prior to that, Ms.
Watson was Director of Engineering Collaboration and
Operations for Corporate Engineering and Technology
(CE&T), and Deputy to Vice President of Engineering CE&T.
In that role, she was responsible for setting strategic
direction for the Lockheed Martin Engineering Enterprise
and its 71,000 engineers and scientists. This included
leading enterprise-wide advancement of complex systems
development engineering practices. She also served
as Deputy Program Manager for CE&T’s Systems and
Software Initiative where she was charged with executing
strategies to leverage the entire corporation’s systems
and software engineering resources to advance complex
systems development through collaboration, professional
development, and model based development.
Ms. Watson has served as a leader with progressively
increasing responsibilities on SSC’s Military Support
Programs (MSP). Ms. Watson was the Ground Systems
Senior Manager, where she provided leadership and
technical direction for all aspects of design, integration,
test, delivery and maintenance of the MSP’s integrated
Ground Element hardware and software installations.
Her contributions to MSP were instrumental to securing
key follow on contracts. Before joining Lockheed
Martin, Ms. Watson began her professional career as
an engineer at Aerojet Electronic Systems in Azusa,
California where she held positions in a variety of
systems and software engineering areas including
design, analysis, development, integration and test.

Ms. Watson graduated from the University of California at
Riverside with a Master’s of Science in Applied Mathematics
in 1991. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Augsburg
College with a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics in 1989.
Ms. Watson is a member of Women in Aerospace, the
Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and the
American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. She
has been recognized for her leadership by winning the
2008 SSC Ed Taft Diversity Leadership Award, the 2012
Tribute to Women Honor by the YWCA of Silicon Valley
and a 2013 Lockheed Martin SSC NOVA Full Spectrum
Leadership Award. Ms. Watson is a member of the YWCA
of Silicon Valley board of directors.

John Deere
Dave Knight is the Global Director,
Turf & Utility Platform Engineering
for John Deere. He has been in this
position since 2011 and is responsible
for worldwide product development
engineering activities for utility vehicles, riding lawn
equipment, commercial mowing, golf equipment, walk behind
mowers and autonomous mowing. Dave began his career at
John Deere in 1998 as Product Development Manager where
he led engineering and portfolio strategy for compact utility
tractors. He was later assigned additional responsibility for
loader engineering and was deeply engaged in global small
tractor strategies. Dave’s career started at Mack Trucks as
a test engineer with subsequent assignments in reliability
and design engineering. He then moved to Ford New Holland
(now CNH) and worked in a variety of positions in engineering,
marketing, and product development. Product lines included
large row crop and 4WD tractors, compact utility tractors, and
combine harvesters. Dave holds a BS degree in Mechanical
Engineering from the University of Toledo (1983), is a Licensed
Professional Engineer (1991), and recently completed The
Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth Global Leadership
2030 program (2013).
Bob Treiber, President and

Bob Treiber has been president
of Boston Engineering since
cofounding the company in 1995.
His leadership and visionary
thinking propels new technologies
forward and ensures that a systems
approach to engineering underlies all projects. His
expertise in embedded controls and product development
provides an emphasis on precision and quality control
throughout the company. Within his impressive career, Bob
has designed, developed, and managed successful projects
in circuit design, custom robotics, and electromechanical
machinery.
Bob’s previous experience includes leadership roles at
Herbst LaZar Bell, MPM Corporation, Foster-Miller, Inc.,
and Raytheon Company. Bob holds bachelor and master
degrees in electrical engineering from Tufts University and
an MBA from Babson College.
Bob serves as a director for the Tufts Gordon Institute’s
Industry Advisory Council, the Tufts Department of
Electrical and Computer Engineering External Advisory
Board, the Smaller Business Association of New England,
and the National Small Business Association.
Dave is the Deere Functional Director for the relationship
with Georgia Institute of Technology and has served as
a board member for Junior Achievement CSRA. He was
elected to the SAE Foundation Board of Trustees in 2014
and has supported numerous activities to encourage and
educate our youth about STEM.

BROWSE PTC UNIVERSITY COURSES
Hands-on training is often the best way to build or brush
up on your technical skills, and the PTC Live Global 2015
program includes a variety of these opportunities, led by
our most experienced instructors.
Offerings at the 2015 event include both a broad range of
best practice and technique-focused sessions for product
design and development, plus for the first time course
offerings will be expanded to include ALM and IoT topics.
PTC University training at PTC Live Global 2015 includes:
1. Two-hour PTC University
training sessions
PTC University instructors will lead 95 two-hour training
sessions – specifically designed for PTC Live Global
attendees – throughout the four-day program. Full
conference attendees can access these sessions at no
additional cost.
During the online registration process, you’ll be asked
to select up to two PTC University training sessions from
a broad range of product and process-focused topics.
Sessions are available on a first-come, first-served
basis and fill up quickly, so register early for first pick of
sessions.
2. Full-day PTC University courses
On Sunday, June 7 and Thursday, June 11, PTC University
will also host full-day courses for PTC Live Global
attendees. These sessions will go into greater depth on
product topics.
Advance registration is required to attend these classes
as availability is limited. Full-day courses are $295, a 33%
discount off the standard one-day course price.
3. PTC University eLearning Lab
You can get additional hands-on training with PTC products
– without having to pre-register or wait for a session – at
the PTC University eLearning Lab. Simply walk in and grab
a seat.
Visit the Lab to try PTC University eLearning for PTC Creo
and PTC Windchill, but also the latest training course
additions such as ThingWorx. You can even get a detailed
tour through PTC University Precision LMS and its stateof-the-art learning management functionality or the award
winning PTC Learning Connector.
The eLearning Lab will also be hosting a series of demos
to introduce you to the latest PTC University training and
adoption tools, including PTC University Expert Model
Analysis Desktop and the Customizable eLearning
Libraries.
4. PTC Creo or PTC Windchill
Master Class
Master Classes for experienced PTC Creo and PTC
Windchill users will return to PTC Live Global in 2015. The
Master Classes will run a full day (Sunday, June 7) and
will allow you to gain the greatest knowledge on advanced
functionalities of these PTC solutions.
Registration is $495 for the full 8-hour training. You can
register for the PTC Creo and PTC Windchill Master Class
online, but your credit card will only be charged once you
receive written confirmation from us.
