The Materials Petal/Declare Manager will work with the Living Building Challenge team to manage Materials Petal consulting, education development and project support as well as the growth and development of the Declare program. The successful applicant must be a multi-tasking, self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit and passion for the ILFI mission, knowledge of green building products and buildings, and strong interpersonal and organizational skills. The position will be filled in Seattle, WA and will involve periodic travel within the Pacific Northwest and occasionally beyond. ILFI also has staff and programs in Portland, Oregon and Vancouver, British Columbia. ILFI offers a collaborative, team-oriented workplace that treats employees as responsible professionals. While the work is demanding, the hours are often flexible, benefits are generous, and good times are frequent. § § § § § § § § § § § § § § § § Description of Duties Manage Living Building Challenge Materials Petal consulting and other general Living Building Challenge consulting as needed. Manage Living Building Challenge Materials Petal education development using powerpoint and indesign. Manage the Materials Petal Handbook updates and development. Provide Materials Petal project support to Living Building Challenge and Living Community Challenge project teams. Manage the growth and development of the Declare program working with the Declare coordinator to ensure that goals for the program are met. Connect with manufacturers and support them through the Declare process. Manage the development of new website resources for the Declare and the Living Building Challenge programs. Organize and direct volunteers and interns with special projects. Qualifications REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in a field complimentary to job duties, such as Architecture, Sustainable Design, Green Chemistry, etc. At least 5 years work experience within a related field such as green building, green chemistry, materials specifications, project management or architecture. Strong knowledge of sustainable construction materials including issues, applications, and methodologies. Project management experience including confidence in managing web development projects. A demonstrated passion for the ILFI mission and for sustainable business. Strong skills in powerpoint, in-design and other Mac based graphics programs. Self-starter, with initiative and an entrepreneurial spirit. Demonstrated public speaking, presentation and interpersonal skills. § § § § DESIRED: Strong ability and affinity for basic office computer programs with the ability to learn new software applications. Hardware and software will be Mac based. Familiarity with materials science, green chemistry and life cycle analysis tools. Friendly, outgoing nature and an eagerness to serve the public interest. An ability to go with the flow and assist where needed in a fast paced, high-energy organization is a key to success in this job.
