The Regular Meeting of the Petal School District
Board of Trustees was held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday,
April 14, 2015, in the Central Office Board Room.
After the meeting was called to order, Petal Upper
Elementary School Student, Graham Gunn, led
those present in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Congratulations to Petal High School
student Johanna Masterson for receiving
the distinction of Star Student. Selection
for Star Student is based on attaining the
highest ACT score in the graduating class.

Petal School District Parent of
the Year.
Superintendent Dr. Matt Dillon is pleased to announce that the Petal School Board approved the hiring
of two district-level administrators at the meeting held Tuesday, April 14th. Katie Charleville was hired
as Supervisor of Special Education and Jon Anderson (Andy) Schoggin was approved for employment
as Chief Operations Officer.
Dr. Dillon is proud that these two outstanding individuals will be joining the administrative staff. “Both of these people have the type professional standards we desire for our leaders in the Petal School District. We expect that with their influence and expertise, our district will continue to excel and maintain
the unique culture and expectations of excellence that is expected in our community. Katie has already
proven herself to be a valued employee of the Petal School District and Andy’s reputation and experi-­
ence indicate that he will also be a great addition to our district.”
Mrs. Charleville is a graduate of Murphy High
School in Mobile, AL and the University of
Southern Mississippi with a Bachelor of Arts
degree in Speech/Language Pathology and a
Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education. She also earned a Master of Science degree in Psychometrics from William Carey
University. She began her teaching career in
the Petal School District in 1999 working as a
Special Education teacher and moved to the
position of Psychometrist in 2012. As Supervisor of Special Services, Mrs. Charleville will
be responsible for supervising all programs
related to Special Services in the district.
Mr. Schoggin earned his high school diploma from Bruce High School and earned Bachelor of Arts
degree in Education from the University of Mississippi. He also earned a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Delta State University. He was a classroom teacher in the Marshall County
School District and DeSoto County School District before becoming an Assistant Principal in DeSoto
County in 2005. In 2011 he joined the Senatobia Municipal School District as Middle School and High
School Principal. He is currently serving in the Tupelo School District as Director of Athletics along
with other administrative duties. The COO position in Petal absorbs the previous position of Director
of Student Assessment/College and Career Readiness (which was vacated through a retirement) and
includes additional duties. Schoggin’s responsibilities with the Petal School District will include over-­
seeing several departments within the district, coordinating the district’s student registration/residency requirements, evaluation of the district’s curriculum and instructional practices, supervising the devel-­
opment of programs aligned with college/career readiness, and assisting the superintendent in the management of daily administrative tasks.
