year on the SAT (Standard Achievement Test) and FSA (Florida State
Assessment) tests. Both teachers and students have been working hard to ensure
the academic success of our school. Thank you for all of your educational support
at home for our Lockhart students.
With only 9 weeks remaining in this school year, we reflect on accomplishments of
the year as well plan for going forward. Throughout the year the teachers have
been meeting weekly in faculty meetings and weekly in grade level curriculum
planning meetings to plan for student needs. During these meetings teachers work
to fine tune curriculum continuity and plan for students’ needs. We are very blessed
to have so many support services in place, not only for the student who may
struggle, but for those that excel as well. Way to go, Cougars!

Parents,
Parent Involvement
News from the Office of Parent Involvement:
Did you know excessive tardies may result in
the revocation of special assignment or school
choice placement? Not only that, students who
are not punctual are learning bad habits that
can affect their school and working careers. The good news is
there are a number of ways you can help to improve your
child's attendance.

Consider providing them with an alarm clock and
demonstrate how to use it. Begin to put the responsibility
of waking up in the morning on your child.

Set and maintain consistent bed times that allow for the
proper amounts of sleep (8-10 hours a night is
recommended for this age group).

Make sure your child has EVERYTHING they need for
school the night before. This includes laying out clothes,
as well as organizing homework and book bags.

Be prepared to leave home in plenty of time to allow for
delays due to traffic, road conditions, weather, etc.
Unexcused tardies are unacceptable at Lockhart. Tardiness
disrupts the educational process, wastes valuable instructional
time, and affects your child's ability to succeed!
Please contact Mrs. Frey @ (813) 276-5727x261 if your family
needs assistance to ensure your student is punctual!
Call Lockhart and your child’s teacher to see how you can help
foster these home and school connections!

A big thank you to the Idlewild Baptist Church Volunteers for coming to Lockhart on February 28th to
help beautify our campus! Not only
did they donate six crepe myrtles,
three oak trees, and 40 bags of
mulch, but volunteers also came to
Lockhart in the rain to help us
landscape the property by planting
the trees and bushes, weeding the
gardens, and laying mulch throughout
the courtyard and hydroponics area.

What a better way to get ready for our
Spring Break this year than to compete in
our annual Field Day here at Lockhart!
Our students spent the past Friday
competing in 10 friendly competitions
focusing on good sportsmanship and fair
play. There were many smiles and
excited students scattered on our P.E.
field.
The morning began with Ronald
McDonald making a guest appearance
and teaching our Kindergarten-2nd grade
students about the importance of living a
healthy lifestyle while the 3rd-5th grade
students were having fun outside at Field
Day. After lunch the Kindergarten-2nd
graders were able to come outside and
enjoy Field Day as
well.
The day was a success
and Coach B. wants to
thank all of our
teachers and staff who
helped make Field Day
possible!
