GRADES 3, 4, 5
Florida Standards Assessment (FSA) has replaced the FCAT. This
year the FSA for Writing will be given to 4th and 5th Grade students on
March 4th. This test is 120 minutes in length and will give students the
opportunity to synthesize, interpret, and summarize informational text.
The week we return from Spring Break 3rd and 4th Grade students
will take the Florida Standards Assessment for English Language Arts.
This paper-based test will be given on March 31st and April 1st. The
following week, April 7th and 8th, Grade 3 & 4 students will take Florida
Standards Assessment for Math. Fifth graders begin testing with
Science on April 14th and 15th. Fifth graders will take FSA for English
Language Arts (ELA), which is a computer-based assessment, on April
28th and 29th. Fifth Grade will conclude FSA testing with the computer
based Math sections on May 5th and 6th. Please note that students are
required to attend both sessions to receive a test score. Tests are
divided into two smaller sessions so students have the opportunity to do
their best without being overworked in one large session. Please make
sure students fuel up for testing by eating a healthy breakfast and arrive
on time for school.

Code Red Lock Down Drill Thank You, Volunteers! Our Heart Run, Field Day, and Hot Food Hot Topics Family Night were wonderful and fun events made possible by our staff and parent volunteers! We appreciate the time you set aside from your busy lives to take part in the fun and enriching activities at Hollywood Central Elementary School. Our students are so proud to have their families come and take part! It is never too late to volunteer! Visit www.getinvolvedineducation.com to sign up to be a volunteer! We practice safety drills at Hollywood Central to maintain and improve our safety procedures. Fire Drills and Tornado Drills are practiced at HCE regularly. This month we will be practicing our Code Red Lockdown Drill. Students will be reminded of the procedures by their classroom teachers. The Code Red Lock Down Drill is an opportunity for our students and staff to remain out of sight and quiet while our entire facility is locked down for a brief period of time. During our Code Red Drill, entering and exiting our building will be prohibited while safe teams inspect our campus. We recognize the importance of school safety and conduct such drills to keep all students and staff safe in the event of an emergency situation.
