Recap: The Charlotte Knights (CWS) scored a pair of
runs in the first inning and never looked back, going on
to top Gwinnett 6-2 last night…RHP Chien-Ming Wang
drew the start for the G-Braves and turned in 7.0 innings
of work, allowing six runs on 12 hits and one walk…RHP
Aaron Kurcz followed from the bullpen and tossed 1.0
perfect inning in relief, striking out two…Seven of
Gwinnett’s nine starters logged a hit, including doubles
by DH Adonis Garcia, OF Todd Cunningham and OF
Joe Benson…3B Pedro Ciriaco and 1B Matt Kennelly
provided the G-Braves two RBI.

Recap: Mississippi stroked a season-high 16 hits in a 7-3 win
last night at Jackson (SEA)…Eight starters logged hits and
six players tallied multi-hit efforts, paced by OF Mallex Smith
and OF Matt Lipka, both of whom had three-hit
nights…Smith poked his first triple of the year, scored a pair
of runs and stole two bases, and has gone 10-for-20 over his
last four games…C Steve Rodriguez drove home three of
Mississippi’s runs, going 2-for-3 with a double and a
walk…On the mound for the M-Braves, RHP Greg Ross
notched his first win of the season after allowing three runs
over 5.0 innings, before RHPs Andrew Waszak and Andrew
Robinson each tossed 2.0 scoreless in relief.

Connor Lien each went 2-for-4 on the night, doubling,
scoring once and driving home one run…Carolina and
Salem play the finale of their four-game set this
afternoon, with the Mudcats looking to split the series.
