Incorporated in 1975, our first president was Mary P. Hood
In 1999 we changed our name to MASSACHUSETTS Association for Healthcare Quality
We have been a state affiliate of NAHQ since 1983
Mission
The purpose of MAHQ is to advance excellence among healthcare quality professionals practicing across every specialty by providing opportunities for professional growth and to
promote collaboration within the healthcare quality community.

• Excellence ‐ Set high professional standards and support Health Care Quality (HCQ) professionals in promoting standards of excellence in healthcare practice; we invest in each other and value individual and cultural differences that make us strong. • Professional Ethics ‐ professional accountability and moral obligation to a wide range of customers served (colleagues, organizations, patients).
• Integrity ‐ honest, ethical and responsible with our customers and members; ensure support and accountability over the association’s operational resources.

• To provide educational programs, for healthcare quality professionals, that promote opportunities for professional growth and keep members informed of changing trends in healthcare quality. • Secure nationally and locally recognized quality professional speakers
• Increase educational program offerings that support core skills development and advancement of practice applicable to healthcare quality professionals across various disciplines and settings.

• Conducted Annual Survey for membership feedback to determine programs and offerings

• New Features:
• Original articles written by members (Send in your articles) • Member Corner highlighting a MAHQ member
• Improved benefits to members by funding the Professional Quality Grant awarded annually
• Recognized National Health Care Quality Week and partnered with the program committee to provide a Webinar to MAHQ members in October 2014
• Generate networking opportunities through LinkedIn; 203 members are linked to our group; and 34 Facebook likes
