He holds a BSc and a LLB (Hons) from the University of Queensland, as well as a Master of Information Technology from Queensland University of Technology and a Master of IP Law from University of Technology Sydney. Jeff is also admitted as a solicitor in Queensland, NSW and Hong Kong and has practised with a leading Australian firm. He previously worked as a Patent Examiner with the Australian Patent Office in the electronics and computing section. Jeff's practice includes patent specification drafting and prosecution of patents including strategic advice on filing and prosecution strategies in China, Europe, United States, Hong Kong, Australia and other substantive jurisdictions across a wide range of technologies including network security protocols, consumer electrical devices, gaming machine technology and computer data structures. Mr. Shuwei Tang graduated from Munich University of Technology with a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering & Information Technology and from Tongji University with a Master of Engineering. Shuwei is a Patent Attorney qualified in Mainland China. Shuwei specializes in filing, prosecuting and drafting patent applications, as well as advising on patent infringement and validity in technical areas including electrical engineering, telecommunications, computer science and industrial automation. Mr. Ian Liu is admitted as a solicitor in Hong Kong. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (1st Hons) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine, London, England, Master of Science degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and in Technology and Policy from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Boston, United States and an LL. B (Hons) from the University of London, England. Before entering the legal profession, Ian worked as a software consultant with internationally renowned technology companies. Ian’s practice includes intellectual property litigation and enforcement in the PRC with an emphasis on patent validity and infringement issues. Ian also handles contentious and non-contentious matters including copyright protection, Internet-related regulations, technology transfer and exploitation of intellectual property rights. Mr. James McHugh graduated from the University of Nottingham (UK) with a Master degree in Physics. James joined Deacons in 2015 after spending eight years with a UK based private practice firm. He is qualified as a UK Chartered Patent Attorney and a European Patent Attorney. His practice includes the drafting and prosecution of patent applications as well as advising in relation to validity and infringement matters.
