1. Opening of AGM
1.1 Welcoming all association members to the 1st MWTA by Sec. General Mr. Mark Seng
2. President Remarks
2.1 The President Mr. Wilson Guan addresses the audience by welcoming fellow members,
members spouse, students, honorary advisors and committee members to the AGM &
Scholarship Reward Presentation. Thanking them for their continuous support and their
attendance today.
2.2 The President explained the transformation of KLSWTQA to MWTA with Register of Society
(ROS) approval in April 2014. Many more exciting activities shall be lined up until end of the
year.
3. Confirmation of the Minutes of previous meeting
3.1 Billy Lim proposed the accuracy of the minutes and seconded by Evelyn See. No other
matters arise from previous meeting.
4. Scholarship Rewards Presentation
4.1 Mr. Danny Hiu the Chairman of Scholarship Division presented the rewards to the successful
students with the assistance from Ms. Veron Teoh.
4.2 Names of the students are:
Primary Level – Hiu Kai Zhi, Goh Pei Xuan, Goh Sam Xu, Nurul Alicia and Yow Xing Tong.
Secondary Level – Ng Weng Jian, Ng Wen Yie, Yow Hong Bin, Kwan Jun Hao, Daniel Yap
Boon Seng and Wan Jun Yuan.
A-Level and Uni – Dickson Fong Wen Jing, Vivian Fong Yi Yi, Hiu Yen San, Yow Xuan Bin and
Lim Jin Wei.
5. Matter to discuss
5.1 Financial Report 2012. Treasurer Ms. Veron Teoh explained the Debtors Balances in reports.
a. Trade Debtor totaling RM5,590.00 was a results of uncollected payments from other
states eg, Penang, Perak, Johor, Sarawak and Hong Kong Federation. President
Wilson advises Ms. Veron to continue chase for the payments.
b. Other Debtors totaling 12,040.00 which was carried forward since 2006 where
records are unfound. Unanimous decision from the floor/members to place it under
bad debts. Mr. President added that the debtor accounts are mainly due to the lack
of follow-up by respective members that was assigned with the specific job and
wrong entry.
c. Annual D&D Debts RM12, 200.00 in the year 2008 and RM17,800.00 in the year
2010. Unanimous decision from the floor/members to place it under bad debts.
Follow-up on collections was not done to the best effort hence leads to uncollected
and unrecorded trails of numbers. Past Treasurer’s Evelyn See and Lee Tui Fong was
not an accounting base person so despite their best efforts the records or entries
was not efficiently carried out.
d. Advertisement Book Debts amounting to RM13,600.00 where records are unfound.
Unanimous decision from the floor/members to place under bad debts.
e. Petty Cash amounting to RM378.59 since 2007 has no records and no cash on hand.
Will treat it as unclaimed bill and to ZERO the figure.
f. Golf Tournament amounting to RM450.00 yet to be accounted correctly by Lee Tui
Fong (past Treasurer). Veron to follow-up with Tui Fong soonest. Mr. President
added that the debtor accounts are mainly due to lack of follow-up by respective
members that was assigned with the specific job and also wrong in-correct book
entry. And, suggested Veron to come up with a better controlling method comes the
next D&D.
5.2 MWTA Official Website
The Official Webpage was created last month and uploaded recently
(www.malaysiawatchtradeassociation.com) by Ms. Mimi Low our appointed web builder.
The webpage will be managed by Mimi Low until end of AHTIPC by December 2014 with a
fee that is yet to be quoted by Ms. Low. The Organizing Chairman of AHTIPC Mr. Bernard
Yong requested that the website be branded as big and as fast as possible to create
awareness among watch trade people, among local and Asean countries that maybe
participating in the coming AHTIPC. Also, requested Ms. Low to create and build a Facebook
fan page. Mr. President added that with the new MWTA and the website, across all states
can now apply to become a member of MWTA especially target the younger generations.
5.3 AHTIPC. Organizing Chairman Mr. Bernard Yong extended invitation to Mr. Xavier Mah the
Consultancy firm that now act as the Secretary to the 20th AHTIPC to join in the discussion.
Mr. Bernard Yong updated everyone that President Wilson Guan will help by coming up with
an advance of RM200,000.00 to kick start the project. Money will be refunded to Mr.
President Wilson Guan on or after the AHTIPC event. For AHTIPC event, we will only use
MAYBANK and the account will start fresh.
Mr. Chairman listed out the subjects that need to be discussed today and the theme shall be
“From Commodities, Goods, Services to Lifestyles Experiences”.
a. Application Form – Xavier Mah explained the forms contents which follow the previous
form done by Hong Kong Federation. The area to improve is the hotel booking rooms
marking and having remarks column to identify those who is sharing rooms. And the
propose entry/participant fee for the conference are:i.
Early Bird USD330 (closing on August 31) & Spouse USD 230. Local RM990 &
Spouse RM660
ii.
Standard Rate USD390 (September 1 onward) & Spouse USD290. Local RM1,190
& Spouse RM860.
b. Golfing – selection of golf course shall be either Mines, IOI Resort, Sg. Long & KLGCC.
Person involve in getting the quotations are MB Lim, Mark Seng and Bernard Yong.
c. Sponsor Package – to categorize as Main Sponsor, Platinum Sponsor, Gold Sponsor and
Silver Sponsor. It could be RM50k, RM30k, RM20k and RM10k respectively. In addition
maybe possible to have Official Time Keeper, Official Media and etc.
d. Translator – we will need translator during the conference and Bernard offered to
source for it.
e. Tourism Ministry – Bernard will try to engage with the ministry and request for funding
in any forms.
f. Hotel Confirmation – Selected hotel shall be Shangri-La and Concord hotel. Rates
proposed for participants/guests shall be as followed.
I.
Shangri-La hotel – Deluxe Single USD190, on Twin Sharing USD110
II.
Concord hotel – Deluxe Single USD130, on Twin Sharing USD70
g. Workshops Speakers – Proposed the followings.
- Manufacturing shall be from Hong Kong, Japan and China
- Trading shall be from Singapore, Taiwan and Korea.
h. Host for 2016 – Chairman Bernard, President Wilson and Honorary Advisor MB Lim shall
coordinate together in writing and emailing respective countries on it.

5.4 60 Association Anniversary Dinner & Dance (D&D). Shall coincide with AHTIPC farewell
dinner on November 14 (Friday). Estimated tables are 65 tables with another 25 tables from
AHTIPC totaling 90 tables as our target. Detail of the 60th D&D shall be discussed in the next
committee meeting.
5.5 Group Photo of the Office Bearer for 41st Executive Committee and Honorary Advisors
(2013-2015). Kenneth of Kent Media was called in to take photos of the committee
members and Honorary Advisors.
6. Any Other Business
- Mark Seng brought up that a full time Secretary position maybe a better option in
near future instead of engaging Part Time. More activities can be planned and
carried out effectively.
- Mark Seng highlighted that the association office premise was infested with
termites and many areas including files are damaged. On May 2 2014, Veron and
Mark taken the initiative to spray termite’s toxic on the entire floor corners and
effected areas including the ceiling.
- Mark Seng suggested for external source/company to work on the house cleaning
and throwing of the damaged files. The cost of 2 cleaners and a 1 ton lorry is
approximately RM800.00, for few hours job. President Wilson suggested that few
committees to be at the association office to check & record files that we will be
throwing/discarding away. Date & Time to be fixed on a later date.
- President Wilson highlighted that current ROS structure for the committees are as
followed. A President, A Vice President, A Secretary, An Assistant Secretary, A
Treasurer and Twelve (12) Ordinary Committee Members, totaling 17 person only.
Having said that trimming of the committee shall be carried out on a later date.
Bernard highlighted that those committee that failed to turn up for meetings should
be removed. 3 names identified are Low Thien Seng, KH Low and MJ Phon. Bernard
updated that our current Legal Advisor Mr. Lee Wah has vacate his position and
appointment of a new legal shall be done on a later date.
