NEWSLETTER VOL. 5, ISSUE 12 MARCH 10, 2015 Mable Barron School LIBRARY NEWS: Beginning next week, we will be ready to begin the California Young Reader's Medal contest or CYRM. This is a yearly contest that children through out California participate in. Students, kinder through third grades, will be voting on their favorite title out of five books. I will read one book per week and at the end of five weeks, the voting will begin. The students love this contest and are very anxious to learn, when all the votes are tabulated, who the winner is. This year the contestants are, "Randy Riley's Really Big Hit", by Chris Van Dusen, "City Dog Country Frog", by Mo Willems, "Exclamation Mark", by Amy Krouse-Rosenthal, "Miss Brooks Loves Books!", by Barbara Bottner and "Too Tall Houses", by Gianna Marino. It will be an exciting five weeks in the library. Thank you again to Christine Tarango for donating these titles to our library. You can pay cash (exact change), check (made out to Mable Barron School) or money order.You can pick up an order form in the office. Last day to order is March 11th The Lost and Found Bins are over flowing!!! Please check if your child is missing a jacket or sweater or lunch bag. The lost and found is located in the hallway between room J and room K. It is open during school time. All lost and found items will be donated to charity during spring break. Applications are available in the office. Lincoln Unified School District’s Kindergarten and New Student registration period for 2015-2016 school year begins March 9 and closes March 27. All students enrolled during this window will be placed using the same set of guidelines. Parent request will always be considered; however, submitting registration All District Choral Night materials to a specific school site does not guarantee placement On Monday, March 16th, at that school. 6:30pm, our annual all district concert will take place at Mable Barron School. This is a wonderful concert where multiple schools combine choirs and put on a fabulous show! SHOW YOUR SPIRIT MABLE BARRON! Wednesday, March 18th, is COLLEGE DAY. Talent Show News Rehearsal Schedule: March 11th, 12th, 18th, 19th (after school) Talent Show will be Friday, March 20th at 7pm in the Multi-Use room School Schedule School Begins at 8:15am Students may be on campus at 8:00 or Breakfast begins at 7:45 am in the MUR Mondays – School Dismissed at 1:30pm Tuesdays – Fridays Dismissal at 2:30pm Kindergarten schedule: morning program 8:15-11:35 afternoon program 11:10-2:30 Students must leave campus when school is dismissed unless with a parent. Preschool If you have a three or four year old child and would like to participate in a Lincoln USD Preschool Program, call the ECE office (209) 953-8731 or visit www.lusd.net and enter your family information on our waiting list. Priority will be given to all four year olds. Families will be called for an appointment in priority order. Transitional Kindergarten A child who will reach the age of five years between September 2 and December 2 of the 2015-16 school year shall be eligible for enrollment in transitional kindergarten. (Assembly Bill 1381) Parents should follow the same registration procedures outlined for kindergarten entry. Kindergarten and New Students in Grades 1-8 Children who are five years of age on or before September 1, 2015 are eligible for kindergarten for the 2015-2016 school year. New students to the district who will be entering grades kindergarten through grade 8 in the fall may register at their neighborhood school or at the district’s child Welfare and Attendance office, 2010 West Swain Road, beginning March 9, 2015. Necessary documents for registration: • Student’s governmentally-issued birth certificate or passport • Student’s up-to-date immunization record • Proof of Physical Examination by a Physician (grades K-1) • Oral Health Assessment by a dental health professional (grades K-1) • Current PG&E bill in parent/guardian’s name, verifying residency in the district.
