Introducing ~ Mary Lou
Mary Lou Lester-Clark was born in 1932 in New Rochelle,
New York to parents Joe and Helen Lester. While her Mom
stayed at home, Mary Lou’s father and uncles started their
own business creating Pacquins, a well known hand cream.
This hand cream became renowned for its healing capabilities
for dry and cracked skin and hands (bought out by Johnson &
Johnson in the 1980s).
Living in Litchfield, Connecticut, the Pacquins’ team decided
to open another company in Canada, and Mary Lou’s family
was blessed in a temporary house exchange to Montreal,
Canada, where Mary Lou spent two years although she mentioned the winters were
especially hard. When they returned to Connecticut, Mary Lou attended and graduated
from Abbot Academy. She went on to Mt. Holyoke, but decided she was not interested
in Liberal Arts, so she moved to the Katharine Gibb’s College, and graduated with a
degree in Administrative/Executive Secretary.
While enjoying riding lessons at a fun riding stable, Mary Lou met the debonair and
handsome horse breaker/trainer Homer Clark. They started riding together and quickly
realized that they couldn’t live without each other. They married, traveled across the
United States as Homer continued his acclaim as a ‘horse whisperer’. Homer, a Korean
War veteran who learned about the repair of planes and how to taxi the planes, took his
love of flying to a new level ~ he began to build his own planes.

Oh, what fun we have!
The Clark family put roots down in Baker City. Mary Lou was hired at St. Elizabeth
Hospital. After living in the city limits, they realized quickly that a rural setting was
more appropriate for them, so they found land off of Pocahontas and moved there.
Their friends, Cliff and Betty Bond, followed suit and between the two families built a
landing strip to share with their love of flying.
After Homer passed away, Mary Lou moved to New Mexico with her daughter. She
worked with her daughter on the ranch as much as she could. There came a time, however, when Mary Lou needed to come ‘home’. Thus, her move to Meadowbrook. She
joins us with her only love, Rusty! We thank you for sharing your and Rusty’s lives
with us! We feel so very blessed to be a new ‘chapter’!

Spring Into Spring Floral Social
A stunning event! Such warmth! What Patience! I had fun!
Lovely event! All of these comments were said after attending the Spring Into Spring Social held at Meadowbrook!
Linda Shelton, daughter-in-law to Marilyn Cummings, gave
us such an incredible demonstration on how to create floral
bouquets and baskets. Thank you, Linda, for sharing your
wisdom, beauty, compassion and artistry ~ We look forward to next year!
