MARY’S COUNTY GOVERNMENT VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT POSITION: Addressing Technician G-S04, $32,094 - $33,800 (B.O.E) + FRINGE BENEFITS DEPARTMENT: Land Use & Growth Management OPENING DATE: 01-14-15 CLOSING DATE: 01-28-15 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: High school diploma or G.E.D.; Experience: Six months or more of related experience. Note: Any equivalent combination of acceptable education and experience which has provided the knowledge, skills and abilities cited below may be considered. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Negative drug test result from pre-employment drug screen; Pass extensive background check with favorable results; Successful candidate must provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States prior to employment. JOB SUMMARY: Performs a range of mapping and data management tasks for the department of Land Use and Growth Management; assigns addresses; approves new road names; ensures databases contain accurate and current information; performs other duties as assigned. DUTIES: Assigns addresses to existing and proposed structures and premises in accordance with county standards to help ensure public safety; Approves new road names; ensures compliance with requirements for changing road names; Updates appropriate databases to include new or modified premise addresses or road names; Confirms or changes premise addresses as needed or directed; Notifies affected parties on changes to premise addresses or road names; Works with other departments as needed to maintain accuracy and currency of addresses and road names; Performs other duties as assigned. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Working knowledge of St. Mary’s County Government policies and procedures regarding public safety, data integrity and customer service; Ability to accurately identify premises to be addressed on maps; Ability to follow up promptly and inform relevant parties, e.g. 911 emergency system, telephone, and electric companies of new addresses; Ability to read property maps, road maps, etc. Ability to operate appropriate computer hardware and software, and simple office machines; Basic math and language skills; Customer service skills.
