THE KERATIN TREATMENT..style saver
Ladies and some gentlemen..I know its hot out there and the
natural hair girls and those transitioning to natural are catching it!!
And If you work out its even worse. With the summer heat I
know that you are seeing a lot of frizziness and puffing and all
over. Well there is another alternative and one that has been
around for years and just hitting the African American market. I
can honestly say at first, I was skeptical about the treatment,
however, after countless hours of research, questioning, testing
and monitoring the product on a client for over 1.5 years and
certifying with the top manufactures of this product..IM SOLD!
There are a few different companies on the market, however, not
all are designed for the many different textures and types of hair.
Not many stylist in the area are actually CERTIFIED to perform
the treatment. The June 2010 issue of Essence magazine mentions
the Keratin treatment as a way to stop hair from reverting and
preserving your pretty!
What is the keratin treatment?
An intensive conditioning treatment sealed in with a flat iron.
Great option for thin hair, damaged hair, natural clients who want
to avoid reversion, frizz, promote healing, blocks effects of humidity and tames curl pattern. Safe for all hair textures and types
(color treated, relaxed, bleached, highlighted). Treatment also
stops breakage. Keratin leaves the hair smoother, silkier,
straighter, shinier, easier to blow dry (yea for mi) and makes hair
more manageable.
How long will it last?
3-5 months depending on hair type and texture provided that you
follow all aftercare instructions

Keratin cont’d
Can the treatment be done on
children?
Yes with great results
If you have extremely coarse hair
can you do the treatment?
Yes and you may need more treatments to get maximum results. Remember this is not a straightener, its
designed to make hair more manageable and it is excellent on fine hair as it
gives it a thicker appearance. Keratin
treatment leaves the hair silky and
straight.

final tip-off

You can only use shampoos and
conditioners that are free of sodium chloride and sulfate to maintain the integrity of the treatment.

The heat, sun and your hair
The heat is bad for your hair….the sun and the heat really work to dry out our hair! Yes the harmful
rays of the summer dry out the hair and especially those with color.

conditioner through the entire
intake but you are getting hydration therapy treatments for moisture as well. The hydration treatment allow for the hair to get the hair shaft and concentrate on the

MAXIMUM amount of moisture to the hair. Not to mention the
damaging effects of chlorine. We must make sure that we thoroughly rinse and then shampoo the hair with a cleansing shampoo
to remove all the chlorine then follow with a moisturizing shampoo
and conditioner..rinse and follow with a leave in conditioner to
protect the hair from the hairmful UV rays and potential heat damage from the sun! If you do not rinse out the chlorine it will break
off over time

THIN OR THINNING HAIR?
I have noticed a lot of women are
experiencing thinning hair. Some
of it can be attributed to long term
use of marcel irons (stove) and
some heredity. However, there
are also health factors and medications that can also trigger thinning .
Some common culprits are retinoids (used for acne and psoriasis),
blood thinners, high blood pressure
medications, antidepressants, oral
contraceptives and hormone replacement therapy.
We do not need to forget that
heredity also plays a role in the
way your hair grows and thins. If
your mom grandmom and aunt all
have thinning hair, then more than
likely the same may happen to you.
Ladies make sure you look at both
sides of your family.
It is important that you do things
to combat the early onset of thinning, cutting back on use of marcel
irons is helpful as well as eating the
right foods and keeping your body
hydrated. You can also massage
your scalp. High stress hormone
levels soak into the hair follicles
and age them causing more hair
shedding. A 10 minute scalp massage can help the follicles receive
nutrients needed for hair growth.
It is good to get the blood circulating in the scalp to promote growth.
One can also shampoo the hair
more often. Contrary to belief not
shampooing the hair often makes
the hair more brittle. Research
also show that thyroid trouble is
linked to thinning hair. To get more
hair boosting nutrients eat at least
6 oz. of protein, zinc and iron rich
red meat. If you don't eat red
meat try poultry fish or two eggs a
day.
