2015 Board of Director Candidates - Medford Food Co-op

2015 Board of Director Candidates
Debi Boen: Incumbent
I have lived in Medford for many years and enjoy contributing to the community as an active volunteer. I served the American Red Cross, Jackson County Public Library System,
Winter/Spring, and the State of OR Dept of Human Services.
I joined the Medford Food Co-op Board of Directors in 2011, just a few months before
the store opened to the public. I have served as Board Secretary for much of that time. It
has been exciting to watch the Co-op bloom into its mission, serving the community by
providing local, fresh, and organic options.
During the last year, the Board implemented a Policy Governance form of oversight. As
the Secretary, this project required a lot of time in setting up a new system of reporting and tracking. It has been
a massive undertaking, but is already making a positive impact. The Co-op continues to thrive, and we are considering many exciting forms of future expansion; it would be a privilege to continue to be part of the infrastructure
Fran Batzer: Incumbent
I have been a member of the Medford Food Co-op board for two years and am seeking
a second term. I am happy that there is now a store in Medford that has the same commitment to health that I do. Serving on the board is important to me, because I want to
support the Co-op and help it develop to its full potential.
I am a Certified Holistic Integrative Nutrition Health Coach and a Gerson Certified
Home Set-up Trainer. I enjoy helping my clients achieve better health by improving their
diet. I teach clients how to organize and equip their kitchen and pantry and the benefits of
local and organic foods. I offer instruction in food preparation, juicing, and how and why
to avoid toxins. Of course, I encourage them to shop at the Co-op and become an owner!
Patty Casebolt
I am running for the Medford Food Co-op board position because I am passionate about
local and organic food, as well as the sustainability and the continued success of the co-op.
Having grown up on a small farm in the valley, I appreciate the hard work and dedication
of local farmers to bring healthy, quality food to local families.
I am the clinical director of a large multi specialty clinic, with more then 25 years of management and marketing experience. I also volunteer for a community medical clinic with
their outreach program, as well as serve on their customer service committee. Although
I have been involved most of my career in mainstream medicine, my own personal health
journey has led me to alternative choices. I have found my own healing has been attributed
to healthy nutrition, and because of this, I am strongly invested in the continued viability of the co-op.
I believe my experience with long term strategic planning and business development, as well as my love for living a
healthy lifestyle would be beneficial to becoming a board member with the Medford Food Co-op.
