Course Information
Program Overview
This one-day program will provide neonatal nurses with the most up-to-date information on a variety of
complex neonatal issues. Research and technology are constantly expanding. This program will review
some of the latest therapies used in the treatment of the sick neonate.
General Information
The conference will be held on the first floor of the Ruth and Tristram Colket, Jr. Translational Research
Building. The registration fee is $125. The registration fee includes buffet breakfast, breaks, lunch and
parking. As part of our Going Green initiative, syllabus material will not be distributed at the conference,
but will be available online up to one week prior and two weeks following the conference. Tours will begin
at the conclusion of the program. Please note on the registration form if you will stay for a tour.
Course Objectives
Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:
• Review the pathophysiology of NEC as it relates to impact of blood transfusions
• Discuss evidence-based strategies that improve human milk rates — discharge and beyond
• Identify typical pitfalls in developing teamwork that foster negativity and workplace stress
• Discuss uses of simulation for enhancing patient safety and learning in the N/IICU
Accreditation
The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia is approved as a provider of continuing education in nursing by
the Pennsylvania State Nurses Association, which is accredited as an approver of continuing education in
nursing by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. This program has
been approved for 6.5 credit hours for the full-day program.
Hotel Information
A block of rooms has been reserved at reduced rates at the Inn at Penn (www.theinnatpenn.com), which
is located just a few blocks from Children’s Hospital. The group overnight room rate is $219 single and
double occupancy plus room tax. Participants are required to make their own hotel reservations by calling
the hotel directly. The telephone number for the Inn at Penn is 215-222–0200. Please mention the name
of the conference when making your reservation. The special room rate will be available until Friday,
April 10, 2015. After that date, reservations will be accepted on a space and rate availability basis.
Cancellation and Refund Policy
The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia reserves the right to cancel or postpone any course due to any
unforeseen circumstances. In the event of cancellation or postponement, The Children’ Hospital of
Philadelphia will refund any registration fees, less a $40 service charge, but is not responsible for any
related costs, charges or expenses to participants, including cancellation charges assessed by airlines/travel
agencies. In order to process refunds for course withdrawals, cancellation must be received in writing by
Thursday, May 7. No refunds will be issued thereafter.
