Brazilian Keratin Smoothing System MOST FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
Questions you may have BEFORE you do the treatment
What is a Keramaze Brazilian Keratin System?
It is a safe and gentle, formaldehyde-free, Brazilian Keratin Treatment that you
can do yourself in the comfort of your home, for a fraction of what a salon keratin
treatment would cost. Keramaze fills the hair cuticle with keratin that is then
bonded to the hair with a flat iron, resulting in hair that is revitalized and
rejuvenated.
What will a Keramaze Brazilian Keratin System do for my hair?
It will make your hair feel silky-smooth and look luxurious. Fizzy hair gets tamed
and relaxed while providing your hair with nutrients to help improve the texture of
your hair. Less styling time!
Your hair will be more manageable and require less time to style. Every day will
be a “good hair day”! Unlike chemical straighteners, Keramaze will not
straighten hair and rob it of its natural body, so if you wish to wear your hair in
curls, you still can. If these kinds of treatments are done at salons won’t it be hard for me to
do at home?
No not at all! It’s simple! All you have to do is know how to wash your hair, blow
dry it and use a flat iron. The Keramaze Keratin Treatment Application
Instructions are so easy to follow, anyone can do it.
I’ve heard that Brazilian Keratin Treatments have Formaldehyde in them.
Does Keramaze?
No! Keramaze is completely formaldehyde-free. It does not contain formaldehyde
or methylene glycol. Some products claim to be formaldehyde-free but contain
methylene glycol, an ingredient that produces trace levels of formaldehyde
vapors when high heat is applied.
What Is Keratin?
Keratin is a strong fibrous protein that is the major component of skin, hair and
nails.
Can I use Keramaze on colored, chemically treated or highlighted hair?
Yes.
Can I use Keramaze over a Japanese Straightening or Relaxer?
Yes. The Keramaze will enhance the look with shine and luster.
Is there any type of hair that Keramaze cannot be used on?
No. Keramaze can be used on ALL hair types.
How long will the treatment last?
That depends on a few variables such as what type of hair you have, how many
times you wash your hair a week, what type of shampoos and conditioner you
use and if you go swimming in pools or the ocean since salt and chlorine can
have a stripping effect on the treatment.
Each individual’s hair will absorb the Keramaze treatment differently. Virgin or
coarse hair may absorb less of the treatment the first time it is applied and may
need to be treated again sooner. The results are cumulative and each time you
do the treatment you will get improved results.
Can I cut my hair before the Keramaze Treatment?
We recommend cutting it afterwards. Your hair will be in better shape and so will
your ends.
Can I color my hair before a Treatment?
Yes! We recommend that you color your hair first.
Can I color my hair and do a Keramaze Treatment at the same time?
Yes, you can but you need to color your hair first prior to the treatment.
Can children use the Keramaze Treatment?
There are no harsh chemicals so children can use Keramaze. However, at what
age a treatment can be done is a parental decision.
Can I do a Treatment if I am pregnant?
While there are no harsh chemicals or formaldehyde in Keramaze, it is not
recommended.
Questions you may have AFTER you do the treatment
How long do I have to wait before I can wash my hair?
You cannot get your hair wet for three days. You can wash your hair on the fourth
day after treatment.
What can I do if I get my hair wet?
Blow dry it right away and use a flat iron to smooth it.
Why do I have to wait before I can wash my hair?
This will allow time for the keratin to be absorbed into the hair cuticle. Keramaze
does not leave a heavy coating on the hair so your hair will look great as soon as
the treatment is done. Your hair will look good enough to go out to your favorite
restaurant even on the third day.
What are the things that I must not do prior to washing out the treatment?
You need to keep your hair smooth so you should NOT:
Use clips
Wear a ponytail or hair extensions
Place hair behind you ear
Wear a hat
What can I do if my hair I get ridges?
You can use the blow dryer or a flat iron to get rid of the ridges.
Can I use styling gels, hair spray or silicone serum after the Treatment?
Yes, but only AFTER you have washed the Keramaze Treatment from your hair.
Can I just touch-up my hair instead of doing a treatment?
No, you must do the treatment on your whole head of hair.
What kind of Shampoo or Conditioners can I use after my treatment?
We recommend using Keramaze Keratin Extend Shampoo and Conditioner. It
works synergistically with your treatment and is sulfate-free and salt-free. Using
products that are not sulfate-free and salt-free will diminish the results and
require repeats of the treatment more frequently.
Sulfate-free & salt-free shampoos do not lather a lot. Do they really clean
the hair?
Yes, don’t be fooled, they clean just as well! Shampoos that produce a lot of
suds do so because of the harsh detergent solvents in them.
How will I know when to do my next Keramaze Treatment?
You will be able to tell but the look and feel of your hair.
How often can I do the Treatments?
You can do a Treatment as often as every month. You need to wait 10 days
between Treatments. Keramaze helps condition your hair and since the effects
are cumulative the more you use it the better your hair’s condition will be.
Can I color my hair right after a treatment?
You should wait at least two weeks after the treatment.
Can I go swimming in a pool or the ocean after a Keramaze Treatment?
Because salt and chlorine have a stripping effect on the treatment (and on hair
color as well) it is recommended that you take steps to protect your hair before
entering a swimming pool or the ocean. We suggest that you thoroughly wet
your hair and/or wear a swimming cap before swimming.
