be at the school on
Tuesday, April 7th to
measure boys for their
tux for Prom. They
will also take orders
on Wednesday, April
15th. This is a great
service to our school.
They come to Melba to
measure, deliver the
tuxes the Thursday
before Prom and pick
them up the Monday
after Prom.
PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES
Melba Junior/Senior High School would like to
invite you to Spring Parent Teacher Conferences. Teachers will be available Thursday
evening, March 19 from 4:00—8:00 and
again on Friday, March 20, 2015 from
9:00—1:00. If parents are unable to attend
conferences during these times, we would encourage you to email the teacher or contact
the office for an appointment. As a bonus
Seniors will be displaying their Senior Projects—don’t miss out.
Melba School District offers a wide variety of
classes to our students and we will be starting
several new classes next year. We need to
know if your student is interested in ROTC,
Advanced Art, Holocaust Literature, Pottery or
Tech Assistant. If you have questions about the
Pathways Program, college credit classes or
the 8 in 6 Program, please talk with Mr. Lenz
or Mr. Forsgren.
It is important to take this opportunity to meet

April 8 Sophomore Field
Trip
Students will be completing their 15-16 registration following Spring Break. Registration
information for next year’s classes will be
available at Parent Teacher conferences. We
encourage parents to pick up this packet on
the 19th or 20th and discuss class offerings
with their student. Teachers will be available
to discuss their individual programs and the
School Counselor, Mr. Lenz, will be available
for questions.
Melba Greenhouse
Have you seen the new
greenhouse? The district is
putting final touches on our
newest addition. Representatives from Valley Agronomics
recently donated an additional $2,000 to help fund the
interior equipment needed.
The greenhouse will be in
operation for our 2015-2016
school year. Students in Mr.
Silver’s Botany Class will be
the first to use this facility.

Football Field
The Melba Football Field is
lookin’ good! You probably
have noticed the numerous
improvements to the field
and track area: Sidewalks
and pavement have made it
handicap accessible, a new
ticket booth has been
added, the entrance has
been graded and leveled,
the ’frame’ stating “Home of
the Mustangs” is dramatic
and new gates will be
added in the near future.
These improvements have
been a joint venture with
several Eagle Scout projects.

Senior Project Field Trip
Melba Seniors were able to visit the State Capitol
and meet with Senator Patti Anne Lodge from District 11. She answered questions about upcoming
legislation and taught the students how the process
works in Idaho. Finally, she took them to the Senate
Floor so they could have first-hand experience of
the legislative procedures.
CWI Dual Credit money is due on December 16th.
For students in the Fast Forward program, parents
will pay the fees and Melba High School will reimburse the parents.

Veterans Day
The Melba Senior Center Food Bank
is in desperate need of supplies! In
answer to that need the Student
Council is sponsoring “FANS WITH
CANS”. Bring your canned food or
non-perishable item to the front
gate at the football game on Friday, October 17th and we will deliver your items to the Senior Center. They will also accept cash donations. In Melba we pride ourselves on taking care of our own
people, so be generous!
Student council will be doing Rake
Up Melba again this year on Tuesday, November 25th . If you know
someone who we should add to our
list to rake their yard please feel
free to contact the high school or
student council advisor, Ms. BoschWilson ([email protected]) so we
can get you on the list. This is a
huge community project that the
entire school takes part in. Student
council would gladly accept any
community trash bag or chili donations to help aid us in that day.
On Tuesday November 11th Melba
Jr./Sr. High School will be hosting the
annual Veteran’s Day Assembly. We
would love any Veterans and their
families to attend. At 9:00 a.m. our
local FFA chapter will be hosting a
breakfast for all Veterans and their
families with the assembly to follow. We would love to have as many
people as possible at both events. If
you are planning on attending the
breakfast please RSVP with either Mr.

Selecting pictures or graphics is an important part of adding content to your newsletter.
Think about your article and ask yourself if the picture supports or enhances the message you’re

Microsoft Publisher includes thousands of clip- art images from which you can choose and import
into your newsletter. There are also several tools you can use to draw shapes and symbols.
Once you have chosen an image, place it close to the article. Be sure to place the caption of the
image near the image.

SOPHOMORE FIELD TRIP
APRIL 8TH
Attention Sophomore Parents!
In preparation for the Sophomore Project, the sophomores will be taking
their first ever English field trip to Boise on Wednesday, April 8th! We
will be visiting the Human Rights Memorial where students will have a brief
tour of the memorial followed by a lesson on the holocaust. During this
lesson students will participate in a reader’s theater. We will be eating
lunch on campus in the Student Union Building, which is within walking
distance of the memorial. After lunch we will then go to the Log Cabin
next to the memorial where we will have a very special speaker join us to
share his survival story. Fidel Nshombo is a “lost boy” from Rwanda and
survived the genocide from the war in that region in the 1990’s. He is also
a poet and will share some of his poetry as well.

Please sign the permission slip sent home and return with ten (10) dollars to
cover transportation and speaker accommodation costs in order to go on
the field trip by Thursday, March 19th.
We will also need parent volunteers, so if you are interested, please let
Melba High School has adopted the Green Dot program for our schools. This is a violence prevention
program that emphasizes the power of one person to make a change in the culture of a school and the
community. It Is designed to combat dating abuse, sexual assault and bullying by empowering students
to take a stand. Students will be presenting information on this program during Friday night’s parent
teacher conferences at 6:00, 6:30 and 7:00 in the high school library. Please take a minute to learn more
about this movement.
