It is with great pleasure that we announce the “MENAMAT 3rdAnnual International Mood and Anxiety Treatment Guideline Implementation Congress” which will be held on April 2015 at JW Marquis – Dubai. The Middle East is an integral part of world scientific progress. Guidelines for treatment in all branches of medicine are becoming the norm rather than the exception. The goal of this Congress is to help implement our first MENAMAT Depression guideline focusing on the management of psychiatric disorder, taking into consideration Middle East diversity, genetic compositions, metabolic and cultural differences. The Congress will utilize the expertise of ECNP and a diverse group of opinion leaders both from Europe and North America as well as Local experts .We will bring to the picture other Guidelines (NICE, PAB and WFSBP) to enhance our experience. ECNP is committed to ensuring that advances in the understanding of brain function and human behavior are translated into better treatments and enhanced public health. ECNP's goals • Support innovative research in the convergent disciplines of neuropsychopharmacology and facilitate the communication of ideas, discoveries and best practices. • Encourage the scientific activities of countries in Europe and co-‐ordinate the development of common European standards. • Promote the entry of young scientists into the field and support their ongoing professional development. • Provide guidance and information to the public on matters relating to brain function and the treatment of brain disorders. • Facilitate dialogue with regulators, government bodies, international agencies and industry. The objective of this meeting is: Guideline Implementation • To look at an effective implementation strategy by strengthening the message of education of care teams and provides feedback of patient data to physicians. Help physicians write more appropriate prescriptions for antidepressants. • Continuing education as the sole intervention to promote adherence with guidelines and the use of evidence based medicine in the management of depression. That should not affect the diagnostic or communicative skills of psychiatrist/general practitioners (GPs). • To help launch good quality studies to determine the effects of implementation strategies in psychiatric services (e.g. feedback, academic detailing, reminders, and audits aimed at changing physician behavior) to promote adherence with evidence and guidelines on depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder. • The effects of implementation depend on the context and nature of the change process. •
