Copper Basin Bible Camp Summer
Message from Bryce
Welcome to Mesa! What a great opportunity we have today to honor God and encourage one another. My prayer is that
before we leave this place we will have done both.
Thank you so much for the love and support you have all shown
Susanna and I. Mesa will always hold a very special place in our
hearts! As we prepare to make the transition to the next phase
of life, many of you have been asking about what we’re involved
in and I thought I would take a few lines and write about it. We
have started a new ministry with Susanna’s parents called Connect3 Ministries. We are focused on connecting Christ, culture,
and communities of faith, and we will be primarily internet based.
Currently Kerry has started writing his blog, you can find it at:
www.kerryholton.org. He writes about healthy spirituality, spiritual growth, and loving our neighbors. I would encourage you
to check it out and sign-up to receive his updates right in your
email inbox whenever there’s a new post. We are working on
a series of posts that Kerry & Susanna will write together, and
we will also be working developing a podcast, and eventually I
will have a blog and be writing about Family Ministry topics as
well. We also plan to expand on our Relatable Conference idea
into a series to address many of our everyday relationships in a
healthy way. Today we covet your prayers, and we’re thankful
for your love. Make it a great week!

Living Like Jesus
Jesus had a different way of looking at life and religion. He was bringing people to
God in a different way. He proved his power by his miracles. He healed everyone
who came to him. That doesn’t mean he healed everyone. Some would not come
to him. When he encountered people, he healed them. He did not go on a search
through all the land looking for sick people to be healed. He wanted them to know
that the power of God was available for healing if they would come to him.
He taught like no one else. The crowd described Jesus as teaching with authority
rather than like the religious leaders of the day. (Matt. 7:28) They followed the
same law but they realized different things from the same God. The Jewish leaders
seemed primarily concerned with obedience so that God would not be angry. Jesus
was teaching people to become like God with his same love and attitude. He was
the son of God and he taught us to be sons like the father in heaven. (Matt. 5:45)
Scripture Reading: Connor Covington Why was there such a clash between Jesus and the Jewish leaders? We would
expect that if they were following the same God and looking for the Messiah that
(1 Samuel 14:6-12)
they would fit together perfectly. The difference seems to be the position that the
Jewish leaders had gained. Jesus did not allow a place for the old leaders in the

new kingdom. He was looking for a different type of leader and a different kind

of holiness. It was more about the heart of the person rather than the ritual they
performed.
Song “There’s a Fountain Free”
Today Jesus calls us to be his disciple just as he did the first ones. It is clear today
what he wants us to do. We have the example of those early disciples and how they

gave up their life to follow Jesus. They taught for him and became witnesses to the
resurrection. They went to the people rather than getting caught up in arguments.
Closing Prayer: Bruce Erno
Today we are to live for Christ as people who have been raised with Jesus. Our old
self is gone and the new self is like him. The world can still see Jesus because we
