CHILD CARE ASSISTANT
Inter-Disciplinary Child Development Center
JOB SUMMARY
The incumbent will assist in the provision of a high standard of care for children at the Interdisciplinary Child
Development Center in a way that meets their physical, social, emotional, intellectual and developmental
needs.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES







Contributes to the planning and implementation of appropriate programmes of activity for children in
collaboration with the Ministry’s Nursery.
Assists in early stimulation for toddlers.
Provides for the physical needs of children (such as feeding, dressing and putting to sleep).
Assists in the care and maintenance of classroom, equipment, supplies and play yard.
Supports child development through implementation of learning experiences (such as preparing paints,
helping children with their paint smock and labelling their art work).
Supervises children during play to safeguard their health and safety.
Performs other related duties and assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE





FIVE (5) O’ Levels including English Language.
A Certificate in Early Childhood Care.
Training in Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience in working in an early childhood care environment.
A Certificate in First Aid Care.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES










Knowledge of the National Standards and guidelines and recommendations good practice for
implementation of child care.
Knowledge of record keeping systems in children’s development.
Excellent communication skills (both oral and written).
Ability to assess problems and to make sound decisions in a timely manner.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Excellent organizational skills.
Ability to analyze information and data in a timely manner.
Ability to take directives and to act independently when necessary.
Ability to manage several child care activities concurrently.
Good problem solving skills.
