How to Finger Dry
This tutorial teaches the basics of finger drying. Finger drying is part of a service

Step 1
Finger drying will be part of a service, which would have entailed
a consultation and assessment of influencing factors. When blow
drying any style it is important that a well maintained haircut is
present to support the styling.
Step 2
Apply the appropraite protective clothing.
Step 3
Assess the haircut shape and required result, then apply the
appropriate styling product.
Step 4
Rough dry, removing excess moisture from the hair.

Use the airflow from the hairdryer and your fingers to shape and add
the appropriate movement and direction to the hair.
Step 6
Your fingers can be used to stretch the hair to add smoothness or
to add volume to help set the hair in its new beta keratin state.
Step 7
Your fingers can be used to create and hold a shape whilst applying
heat.
Allow the hair to cool in its new position prior to styling into the
finished result.
Step 8
Control the hair with your fingers to prevent any unwanted frizz.

Ensure that the airflow from the dryer is flowing with the direction of
the cuticle and that the heat from the dryer is not aimed directly at
the scalp.
Step 10
Advise the client on the products for home use and how to maintain
the look for longevity. Also advise that continual use of heated
equipment can have adverse affects on the hair if heat protection
products are not used.
