Box 310 * 424 White Mountain Highway * Milton, New Hampshire 03851-0310 * (603) 652-4501 * Fax (603) 652-4120 VACANCY “Budget Committee Member” position Fill-in term – expires March 2016 The Budget Committee is seeking a letter of interest from anyone wishing to be appointed to fill in the remainder of a vacant position on the Budget Committee. The term expires March 2016. The Budget Committee consists of nine members – six elected and three ex-officio members from the school board, select board and water district. The Budget Committee follows all applicable state laws including RSA 32 and particularly RSA 32:14-24. The Budget Committee is responsible for creating By-laws in order to define and codify the functions and duties of the Committee consistent with statute to ensure unity and clarity, to promote effective and efficient committee processes, and to support the general welfare of the Town. The Committee's mission shall be to assist voters in the prudent appropriation of public funds as per NH RSA 32:1. Responsibilities and duties of the budget committee consist of: carefully reviewing all requests for budgets shall give consideration to all lawful requests for the ensuing fiscal year to review expenditure and revenue reports as requested periodically and as may be amended from time to time; all members shall make every effort to attend each scheduled meeting. Unexcused absences from three (3) consecutive regularly scheduled meetings shall be just cause for the committee, by majority vote, to request the member’s return to elected duties. A member-at-large shall cease to hold office immediately upon missing four (4) consecutive scheduled or announced meetings of which that member received reasonable notice, without being excused by the Chair as provided in RSA 32:15,VI; members of the committee have authority only when acting as a board legally in session. The committee shall not be bound in any way by any action or statement of any individual committee member except when such statement or action is furthering specific instructions of the committee.
