NEWSLETTER Season – 2015 Round 6 Even with the cool weather it was great to get back on the field last weekend for games and this week for training. There’s nothing quite like running around and kicking a soccer ball to help you forget about the cold! This weekend is round 6, the grounds are dry and it looks like we are going to have great weather for soccer. It’s also grand final weekend for the A-League and even though a lot of our members are Wanderers supporters there are some of us who support the Sky Blue part of Sydney – GO SYDNEY FC! We also have our first social event of the year, the Kids Disco, happening the weekend after this so things are certainly moving again both on and off the field. On a more serious note, the club would like to wish the coach of our 10 Echidnas (and one of our loyal sponsors) Joe Lagana, a speedy recovery. Get well soon Joe. We hope to see you ‘round the grounds soon. Have a great weekend, enjoy the sunshine and have fun! Yours in soccer The Minchinbury Jets Soccer Club Committee Kids Disco Our first social event of the year is our Kids Disco. Club Referees Due to a shortage of referees, Blacktown Association is looking for adults to help referee match on Sundays. They have asked the club to nominate interested people as “Club Referees”. These referees would be assigned to referee or run the line at matches at our ground on a Sundays. The idea being that Blacktown would assign matches every second Sunday to Club Referees to help give all games an assigned referee. Blacktown Association will provide training and a club referee uniform free of charge to all Club Referees. Club Refs are paid the same as other referees ($52 to referee an adult game and $26 to run a line), it’s tax free and cash in hand! If you are interested in becoming a Club Referee please contact our club secretary, Stephen Bradbury on 0419 170 717. Club Website The easiest way to get the latest information on our club is via our club website. Our website address is www.minchinburyjets.net. Our website also contains links to the Blacktown Soccer Association website and contains all that you need to keep up with the latest in our club. The Draw The draw is now available online. Please go to our club website and click on the ‘Draw” link. This will take you to the online draw on the Blacktown Association’s web site. We recommend that you check the draw on Thursday or Friday each week to ensure that your match time and venue has not changed. Please do not print out copies of the season draw as it can change and you may end up missing kick-off times if you do this. Wet Weather Information In the event of wet weather we will contact your team coach and manager as soon as we are made aware of ground closures. Our club website also has information on ground closure. Alternatively you can call the Blacktown Council wet weather line on 9839 6575 or check out the Blacktown Council website on www.blacktown.nsw.gov.au. Players are asked to contact their team officials if they are unsure of ground closures. Please do not assume that matches are cancelled just because it’s raining. Weekly Match Fees All players are reminded that they must pay a weekly match fee. Fees are payable for all matches (except byes and forfeits by the opposition). As these fees contribute towards players end of season presentation they are payable for all matches regardless of whether you play or not. In the event of long term illness or injury your team manager will ask the committee for a dispensation on the payment of fees. The weekly match fees are: Small Sided Games players (U5 to U11) - $5 per week. Junior Comp teams (U12 to U16) - $6 per week. U20’s - $7 per week. Please help your team manager by paying to them as soon as you arrive for your match every week. It’s much easier for you to approach your team manager than for them to have to chase up a whole team for fees. Playing Strip & Club Gear As well as having our uniform for sale, the club also has a range of club gear (polo shirts, jackets, caps, beanies, sweat bands etc) on display and for sale at the club canteen. EFTPOS facilities are available and we can also accept Mastercard and Visa Card for purchases. Trivia Night Our annual Trivia Night is back by popular demand.
