ANZAC CENTENARY LOCAL GRANTS SUPPORT COMMUNITY COMMEMORATION A further $2.1 million has been awarded to 160 new projects and 32 existing projects under
the Anzac Centenary Local Grants Program (ACLGP).
The Minister for Veterans’ Affairs and Minister Assisting the Prime Minister for the
Centenary of ANZAC, Senator the Hon. Michael Ronaldson, announced the new funding
allocations today, which concludes the ACLGP.
“We have now processed almost 1,800 applications and awarded grants to more than 1650
projects worth a combined total of $17.9 million across all 150 Federal electorates,” Senator
Ronaldson said.
“The response to the Anzac Centenary Local Grants Program was outstanding and it is
wonderful that local communities have found unique ways to participate in the Anzac
Centenary, which is the most significant period of commemoration in our nation’s history
“The varied nature of these projects demonstrates a range of innovative yet appropriately
dignified ways by which local communities will commemorate those who served in the First
World War.”
The diverse projects to receive funding include:
 Wyndham Anzac Centenary Commemorative Arts Project, which includes a digital
storytelling component and interpretive panels to be installed at the Werribee RSL
building in Victoria
 the Anzac 100 school/community partnership project, which involves building a replica
of the SE5a fighter plane in Queensland to commemorate the role of Australian airmen
and women in the First World War
 to hold a large format projection titled “Violet Verses” that will capture the emotions of
people on the streets of South Australia during the First World War
 the refurbishment of the York War Memorial (WA) to include names missing from the
memorial, create weather proof housing for a Krupp Gun located in Avon, and produce a
Veterans and Veterans Families Counselling Service (VVCS) and Veterans Line can be reached 24 hours a day across Australia for crisis support and free and confidential counselling. including Lt Lawrence McCarthy VC
 an upgrade of the ACT Memorial Database to enable better access to First World War
information, including details of local servicemen and women, and establish a related

 an Anzac Eve Youth Vigil and First World War research competition to be conducted at
Palmerston in the Northern Territory.
